A Chrome OS-like distro based on Ubuntu Linux

Chromixium is now known as Cub Linux

It has been a while since we last heard something from the Chromixium Linux project, an operating system based on Ubuntu Linux and designed from the ground up to look like Google's Chrome OS.

Last time we wrote something about Chromixium, the developers were working hard on the next major release, Chromixium 2.0, which was supposed to have a better and more stylish interface, as well as an updated base, as Chromixium 1.5 was released based on the Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS (Trusty Tahr) operating system.

However, in the meantime, it looks like Google’s Trademark Enforcement Team asked the developers of the Chromixium project to cease use of the name "Chromixium" for their GNU/Linux distribution because of infringement, despite the fact that Google doesn't yet uses that name on any of its projects.

"I decided not to take on the might of Google (well, the finances of Google) in a court of law, and after some very constructive exchanges with Google’s trademark lawyer, we agreed that the Chromixium mark would cease to be used by 1 April 2016. This includes this domain, GitHub, Chromixium social media presences including Google+ and YouTube," said one of the Chromixium OS devs in the announcement.

Cub Linux 1.0 is coming, based on Ubuntu 16.04

The Chromixium OS developers are proud to inform Softpedia today that the new name of the project is now Cub Linux. Why Cub Linux? Because Chromium + Ubuntu = Cub, and it's a GNU/Linux distribution after all. Best of all, the name Cub Linux has been registered as an official sublicensee of the Linux trademark with the Linux Foundation.

There's also good news for existing Chromixium OS 1.5 users, as they will still get support for the distribution until Ubuntu 14.04 LTS reaches end of life, but it is strongly recommended that they wait for the awesome Cub Linux 1.0 release to get out this Spring, based on the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system from Canonical. So make sure that you are following Cub Linux on Twitter, Facebook, Google+ or the official website for details.

My thoughts and opinions are this, an advanced civilization beyond our fathom will not have money or copy-writes over anything. Sharing and working as a whole unity world wide would put us farther then competition allow one to dream and imagine without the pressure or stress of losing everything over one word or many would allow many to go beyond what we are locked into today soon with VR we will be able to accelerate learning for children and young adults in every single field and it's inevitable that every kind of job we have as humans except creativity imagination and dreams will be replaced by robots its already starting you can now buy a robot that is humanoid-ish that can cook clean and have sex with, thank you Japan. the automotive industry has had robotic arms for decades building for them now governments are working on AI and claim even Phil Hawkins claims it's within years from 2015 that it will be born and it could be very dangerous or could just make humans useless in the work field. We can't work 24/7/365 with no water, food, or break and a fellow robot can repair other robots so still we won't be needed other then philosophical, creative, imaginative, theoretical fields until the AI surpasses us in all those to then we are slaves to our own creation.
