Batu69
Redmond says it has a responsibility to keep users secure Windows 10 was rolled out in July 2015 and since then Microsoft has been constantly pushing for users of Windows 7 and 8.1 to upgrade to the new OS version. In some cases, this push for upgrades turned into a significant fiasco, with many accusing the company for forcing them to upgrade and sometime installing Windows 10 on their PCs without authorization. But in a recent podcast, Microsoft's Chief Marketing Officer Chris Capossela explains that one of the reasons the Redmond-based tech giant wants everyone to upgrade is that is has a responsibility of keeping everyone secure and currently the most secure operating system is Windows 10. “Windows 10 is a much better place than Windows 7” Capossela explained that with so many users currently on Windows, and with Microsoft trying to fight fragmentation, it's basically impossible to move everyone to the new OS version without “angering some people.” He does mention that users are given the choice whether to switch to Windows 10 or not, and are even allowed to downgrade to their previous OS version if they want, but presenting them the opportunity of installing a new product that's safer and faster is vital. “We just know there's a lot of people out there who constantly kick the can down the street without a little bit more of a, frankly, a push and there's no doubt with a basis big as ours it's hard to move anyone to a new model without angering some people. We don't want to anger anybody, but do we feel a responsibility to get people to a much better place and we think Windows 10 is a much better place than Windows 7,” Capossela explained. Starting early 2016, this push for upgrades will become a little bit more aggressive, with Windows 10 to be offered as recommended update in Windows Update. Microsoft hopes that this way more Windows 7 and 8.1 users would become aware of the free upgrade they can perform until July 29, 2016, but there's no doubt some of them will still want to stick to their current OS version. dMog
some have legitimate complaints and some are angry just because they think it is the fashionable thing to do.... if the all people that use windows all suddenly went to linux overnight .... you wold see a lot more anger towards linux builds than you see toward to windows right now..also a lot of apple os users are far from happy too when they have older stuff that they now will just break by design from official apple software updates
vibranium
The number of systems that did not work after the upgrade, shows us that Microsoft's benevolence is misguided.
Bausch
They are very presumptuous thinking they know what is best for everyone. Not everyone wants Microsoft's precious Windows 10 on their PCs, and people have the right to keep their own systems the way they are. Microsoft is mixing cards, and playing people for fools. Holmes
Not everyone wants windows ten on there computers right now at this moment like me. I plan on upgrading when redstone comes out. Calling windows ten the worst operating system in history is false its the scenario surrounding it what microsoft is doing to push it on everyone is the problem microsoft is forgetting people have the freedom of choice these aggressive practices are manipulating that choice something that malware authors do to get there malware onto machines to infect them. AM I disappointed in microsoft I am have I completely lost faith in microsoft no I have not. Like I said in a different thread Im like jeep and michael in the movie legion sometimes it looks like all hope is lost my faith is going nowhere thats why god invented patience and perseverance for times like this. That statement without angering some users they have angered ALOT of users I hope there trying something new see how its going to go see how far they can go with it and then decide to stop there acting just like a friend of mine he sees what he can and cant get away with and then goes from there looks like microsoft is doing something similiar like him microsoft are being *ssholes about it. straycat19
Microsoft is touting Windows 10 as the most secure Windows OS but it isn't. Hacks from Windows 3.1 that won't work in Windows 7 or 8.1 work easily in Windows 10. Even found some vulnerabilities that were patched in windows 98 that work in windows 10. One of these days other people will discover these and Windows 10 will have the largest OS compromise in history. Say what you want about LInux and OSX but neither have ever forced an update from one full version to another. You can still run Leopard, or Snow Leopard, or Mountain Lion, or Yosemite, or even Panther without fear of being forced to install El Capitan. And Apple has been providing the upgrades at minimal ($29) or free for years now, but give you freedom of choice. Same applies to LInux distros, no one forces an upgrade on you or even limits you to one flavor. You can switch distros any time you want. Microsoft fanboys are a waste of oxygen. Karlston
If Microsoft stopped treating users like children incapable of making decisions, then perhaps more Windows 7 and 8.1 users would upgrade. This, and the fact that Windows 10 is still too immature for production systems, is the main reason I refuse to upgrade. Dear Microsoft... if Windows 10 is truly such a wonderful product, why do you need to bully, nag, sneak, and force it down user's throats? Law suits or a media and user revolt are the only thing that will stop this unconscionable* company of bastards with a God-complex. * unethical, amoral, immoral, unprincipled, indefensible, wrong; More unscrupulous, unfair, underhand, dishonourable, dishonest, corrupt, depraved; informal, shady
Holmes
If it has vulnerabilities from windows three point one and ninety eight i think its because windows ten is better at backwards compatibility in windows ninety eight second edition dos games and old legacy games played perfectly. I saw a video where you can install old office programs on windows ten without problems. I have seen some articles talking about old vulnerabilities being discovvered in windows seven or windows eight doesnt surprise me. Im sure security researchers are going to find them and disclose them and microsoft is going to fix them. I have used my friends macbook before I may get one in the future there nice and Im learning linux I dont prefer one operating system over a different one Im a equal opportunity user. Trolls and users that have the personality that belongs to the dark tetrad (the dark tetrad is the dark triad with sadism added dont know what they mean google is your friend) can go to hell. I don't work for Microsoft so I am not obligated to them for anything. We initially thought that what we found would be fixed in the preview version before they ever got to the release date but they still aren't fixed in TH2 so I bet unless someone who also finds them and wants to share it with them does they will never be fixed. Holmes
I dont care as long as they get fixed and are fixed when redstone is released. They are apparently taking there time and think its ok its going to be fixed next update *FACEPALM*.
steven36
At the rate Microsoft is going 9 hours ago, dMog said: some have legitimate complaints and some are angry just because they think it is the fashionable thing to do.... if the all people that use windows all suddenly went to linux overnight .... you wold see a lot more anger towards linux builds than you see toward to windows right now..also a lot of apple os users are far from happy too when they have older stuff that they now will just break by design from official apple software updates Lets get realistic not everyone is going to start using Linux over night just like everyone is not going to start using windows 10 overnight . People just want to be left alone and use what O/S they do have for the years they have left of the updates Microsoft promised them. You go out and buy windows and 3 to 5 years latter there harassing you to upgrade to something else . I been using windows for 15 years and this is the 1st time they try to force me to upgrade to anything. Because Microsoft cant make and O/S that appeals to the masses since windows 7 and failed badly with windows 8 . Because there own screw ups everyone is now being harassed trough windows updates . If Windows 10 was a person i would of done filed a restraining order on it. They should fire the new CEO of Microsoft and if windows 10 don't succeed like windows 8 did . The stock holders are going to be very angry because its going to break M$ Win/lose streak were one o/s done bad and one o/s done good. And they will have to make Windows 11 or get out of the business . The ceo has all there cards on this new O/S because his very job is at stake is the very reason its being crammed down everyone's throats . All trough M$ history one version of windows does good then one does bad and if Windows 10 does bad that will be 2 in a row and that's never happened before . You cant be a success if you keep striking out. Linux is just like any other O/S some distros are much more stable than others its according do you want stability or do you want bleeding edge . The Linux I'm on atm is far more stable than Window 8.1 or Windows 10 . you could keep it running for months and never need to reboot.
coromonadalix
I never had so much troubles since win 10 arrival, lots of audio problems, it was fine before the redstone upgrade version, and now i only have intermittant sound problems. One boot it works, the other don't, the star menu goes empty, all the taskbar icons disseapears, the win keyboard button dont work ..... i'm sick of this treatment. Linux is become more interesting for me ...
