Batu69
That’s the latest forecast of analyst company Gartner Microsoft has invested a lot in making Cortana a key feature of Windows 10, and future OS updates are supposed to continue this push with new options, including some that would keep the personal assistant floating on your desktop to be there just when you need it. And it’s this push that will make personal assistants important parts of our lives, analysts believe, and in a recent forecast, Gartner says that Windows 10 will be one of the operating systems driving forward the adoption of such technologies. “If at least half of Windows 10 users opt for voice or gesture to give commands, that will make 30 percent of the installed base using this function,” believes Lillian Tay, principal research analyst at Gartner. This is what Microsoft itself is also expecting to happen, as internal research has estimated that, in a maximum of five years, technologies such as Cortana would replace traditional features such as browser search. The potential to change our lives Gartner, however, predicts that personal assistants could help us not only with computer tasks but also with other activities that are not directly related to a PC or smartphone. “Speech and gesture will bring new usage and productivity gains in the commercial sector. Take, for example, in field service where a worker can have hands-free access to files and documents by using a gesture to flip a page. Similarly, at home, voice and gesture provide a nice fit with a hands-free PC interaction scenario. For example, waving to a screen to change the page of a recipe book when the user is cooking, or opening a browser to search and add items to a grocery shopping list whenever something comes to mind,” the analyst firm explains. Indeed, personal assistant usage is on the rise these days, and Cortana is receiving new features on a regular basis on both PCs and smartphones. It remains to be seen, however, if this revolution will indeed take place by 2019, as Gartner estimates. News source
