anuseems
The creator of Adblock has sold the enterprise to someone and he isn't saying who it is.said by TheHackerNews : Adblock Extension that blocks annoying online advertising has been sold......And more shocking, the most popular "Adblock Extension", with more than 40 million users, quietly sold their creation to an unknown buyer...'Michael Gundlach', the creator widely used Adblock Extension refuses to disclose the name, who purchased his company and how much it was sold for, just because buyer wishes to remain anonymous. After watching a popup message (as shown) on their browsers this week, the Adblock users are literally going crazy. quote:"I am selling my company, and the buyer is turning on Acceptable Ads," Gundlach said. No doubt, Ad-blocking has become a huge problem for Online Publications and websites that rely on Ad Revenue......but now these utilities have changed their fundamental idea for making money by enabling the "Acceptable Ads" feature, which maintains a whitelist of ads that aren't blocked by default.Acceptable Ads feature will now let some advertisements through on by selected websites or by selected companies by default, if those companies pay for showing their ads.https://thehackernews.com/2015/10/adblock-extension.htmlhttp://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/10/02/adblock_flogged_off_to_mystery_buyer/

dcs18
uBlock Origin is superior on Chrome since the Adblock by Michael Gundlach is not in the same league as the original Adblock Plus created, by Wladimir Palant for Firefox. ;)
mona
So it doesn't affect Adblock Plus. :)Another (potential) hurdle for Users of Google Chrome. uBlock Origin will probably gain more users now. There is always a choice.

steven36
This was already posted herehttp://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/252899-adblock-plus-to-introduce-independent-board-to-oversee-acceptable-ads-program/And ABP already had acceptable ads and ADBlock witch is real poplar on Chrome the new owners now have put in acceptable ads. That just leaves Ublock forks and ABE witch is no longer being developed as the only popular add-ons that don't have this check box :PuBlock Origin is the 3rd most downloaded Privacy & Security Addon and ABE is 8th at AMOhttp://www.nsaneforums.com/topic/253015-adblock-for-chrome-sold-joins-adblock-plus-acceptable-ads-program/

steven36
AdGuard the not free version you have to pay and it also has acceptable ads so they get paid 2 times there sure not making any money from just selling it. because of all the free ones out The Free Add-on has acceptable ads.as well . So its the same as ABP and ADBlock . Most all AdBlockers have sold out to the enemy .

There is always a choice.quote:"I am selling my company, and the buyer is turning on Acceptable Ads," Gundlach said.Michael Gundlach (Adblock) concentrated more on the visuals of his GUI whereas Wladimir Palant (Adblock Plus) focused on Firefox bugs — nonetheless, Adblock does possess many of the whistles and bells that make Adblock Plus the leader in the ad. blocking segment.Against the above backdrop, it remains to be seen how Adblock Users perceive acceptable (non-intrusive) ads. — to the Experts, the solution would seem just a matter of 2 clicks away (a single, one-time, simple operation.) The majority might switch over though, to uBlock and to other Adblock competition . . . . . . some might even shift away from Google Chrome. However, some of the very lowest gypsies on the food chain might even make their way out here to lament and whine about the evils of acceptable (non-intrusive) ads. :tehe:
steven36
If you use stuff based on them getting rich in the name of free you may as well install Google Chrome . :lol:Gypsies are not the ones who's complaining its the Webmasters who host these ads that are complaining .Since Version 2.2.1 ABP has acceptable adsOn December 5, 2011, Wladimir Palant announced that certain "acceptable" ads would be whitelisted in upcoming builds of the Adblock Plus software, with the option to remove whitelisted ads via a custom setting in the software. According to Palant, only static advertisements with a maximum of one script will be permitted as "acceptable", with a preference towards text-only content. The announcement created some controversy both at Adblock Plus's website and at social media sites like RedditWhat caused all the stink was when IOS mobile started allowing adblockers this is were the Webmasters make there money . No one really cares about Desktop and Laptop because people have been blocking ads for years . All this news is just rehash from 2011 back when the webmasters complained about it before . I don't complain I just don't use these products .

steven36
I know several people who bought AD Guard and switched to uBlock Origin because AD Guard not updating filters and stuff like it should . Just like the guy who made ABE a fork off ABP now uses uBlock OriginAnd I already know you can disable these acceptable ads that's why Google and m$ should stop paying these ripoff artist . They should not get 40 million a year just from Goggle for something that can be turned off. Because They lose more from people turning it off than they gain . acceptable ads policy simply dont really work and is a bad idea.Once these Adblockers get banned or are no longer effective witch ever comes 1st Wladimir Palant is going be laughing all the way to bank those guys have millions stashed back . They only still make ad blockers because they get rich from it they stopped caring about blocking ads 5 years ago. They got so much money they could close shop and they are set for life. :P

(wrote here b/cuz system sez you don't accept PMs)..Oh yes, I prefer Adblock Plus (ADP) because the entries which it is able to detect is simply not possible on the lower-end ad. blocking programs. Adblock Edge (ABE) is also another equivalent of Adblock Plus (ADP.) In my experience, Adguard comes neck-to-neck close at 2nd spot . . . . . . next to only Adblock Plus (ADP) and Adblock Edge (ABE.) ^_^

steven36
The thing is there's many people with plenty of book sense even collage degrees .. And even make good money but when it comes to computers they don't have any conman sense at all.
dcs18
The simple reason for that is common sense is not so common — just as collage does not equal college and conman does not equal common.
