Im not sure there is a "Best" however if i were to pick i would say Blackbird is definitely one of if not the best.

This is because of a good developer who constantly updates it for each new windows version.

 

There sure are alot! What i do is i use a few Together, i use a script called WinTel (from MDL Forum, extracted from OEM Toolkit) along with BlackBird, O&O, Spybot Anti Beacon, WPD, W10privacy and WindowsSpyBlocker

I always run the WinTel script and blackbird on every reboot and logoff of windows. Then upon initial Windows install, i use the ones i stated above to tweak things i want on and off and i make sure rules are set propperly and show as set to the same state across apps. That way i can be sure its all working correctly, however this is probably overkill. I am very private lol.

Since I see the Blackbird Dev has previously viewed this post, I'll write this here. First of all, I appreciate all the hard work you obviously put into Blackbird, but... I have not had a great experience with my first try. My bad for not making a fresh OS drive image before trying unknown (to me) software... So I have a home media and backup servers, after using this latest V6 1.0.3. x64, of course I could no longer access them. After applying the "Network or LAN Fix - Press the L key" I could then enable the Windows share settings, it still would not see my server.

 

I found that the FDResPub service, which is a needed service would not start and gave an error. Thought it may have been blocked? So I Tried to import the reg key for it from another pc, no change. Finally after much research, got the service working by using "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" command. The service would now start and I could now see other PC's on the network, but could still not access the media server and after much more research into it, I came up with no fix.

 

I then tried to restore the backup Black Bird made. I just hangs at restoring services, tried multiple times. I Found a post of another user with same issue, so I tried an older version of Blackbird_v1.0.28_x64, that one completed the restore, But alas, no changes. Still could not access server. So I tried the Restore Windows Defaults option on Black Bird and FINALLY I could see my and access server. Damn what a pita!

 

So good sir, again I thank you for making Black Bird, but could you please make Black Bird with more user control over what all it is blocking / turning off for those of us that have needs such as I.

Also it would be really a good thing to have a full disclosure as to what are the exact changes being made, full list of services affected, ect.

 

Would be very much appreciated.
