IDAProFTW
After v5 of Ad Muncher releases, the author wants to make it open source: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8477860Having followed two HUGE and very complicated projects over the years - PCSX2 and Dolphin-Emu I can tell you that making software open source often breathes TONS of life into them. PCSX2 and Dolphin were dead - no updates for almost a year then after it went open source - 12-20 coders on each, 50 updates a day to the source code tree.I hope this comes trueSource: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=8477860

Also open source rules are so strict if you abide by there rules sometimes it can cause you to have remove many useful features from your program. Your dictated upon some very old outdated rules. Most are clean programs with nothing wrong with them but licensing issues . But Open Source will approve programs full of adware in the installers . Go Figure . Some programs I use are not as good as they once was because they had to remove stuff to stay open source .

If your name is not Google (Chrome is more known that its open source base Chromium) nobody will find your shareware on the Internet. Also, there's nothing wrong about using open source code to build a shareware, and depending of the license it's completely legal. If not because of the license it's called counterfeiting and it's common in real life anyway. It's your responsibility not to click and install blindly craps on your OS.If it's YOUR program, you have absolutely a total control over it. Nobody will remove features you include unless if you steal this code from a program that have a copyright on it.

You take classic shell it use to be open source they closed the code because of others stealing and making shareware from it also other programs left open source project because of this . Then you have a lot good programs that were forced out or were not accepted by them . Don't get me wrong im not against open source if thats what you want too do because its free and I'm for free. But I do think there a hindrance to development and if you want to protect your free program from being developed from people that don't have no ideas of there own to make money and add what ever features you want just release it as freeware . You will have a lot less problems .

The negatives Of AdGuard atm are privacy issues , A high foot print for and ad blocker , And its shareware in a predominately free market were millions and millions just use what is free. It works better for me to block some ads that ublock could not . I have ABE and HTTP Switchboard When . I been doing some test with AM so far with it running with my addons its AM saved me 41 mb of bandwidth in 3 days thats using other blocker with it.The thing that makes ABP so successful is its free and they get paid for putting in and option for acceptable ads and donation. You take AD Guard there shareware if you don't buy it and just use giveaways and cracks your not really helping them to be successful at all. But why should we help them when everyone else is offering it for free almost ? There's millions and millions of people who use ad blockers . The few that use ad guard don't even make dent in the user-base as a whole. There's and old saying. You can lead a horse to water , But you cant make him drink . No one much is going to buy a product there's no big demand for when everyone and there brother are giving it away free. When I do testing with spotify web player and HTTP Switchboard in chrome its https with a lot ads of and its blocking the ads and its free . ;)
steven36
Adverts list for AM updated yesterday seems they update fine now ...seems using the ADGuard Free Addon Add-on for Chrome and Firefox is a lot less privacy intrusive than the installed version as long as you uncheck somethingshttps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adguard-adblocker/privacy/But still for some reason mozilla has never approved the addon , When running test the only extra benefit I see from using ADGuard is it can can remove those pesky ads from goggle search were others cant but you can get this from the free addon . Seems that the Element Hider don't work right for this free addon in firefox , but the free addon works right in chrome to remove Elements.Anyway goggle has got were its removing so much search results its became trash .. If you want results you have go right to the sites and search..

jofre
Just wondering under the "Options -> Filter Targets", do I need to manually add programs that get listed, or I'm find leaving that untoched ?You do whatever you like, but be prepared in case something goes wrong. Some backup software is always a good idea ... :)
tool_band
Chrome won't work with new free version. Is there any reason why it won't appear in the programs list? Thanks.
tool_band
Is there a reason AM doesn't block https? Cause it won't work on youtube anymore. But I use Ad Block and Ad Guard Blocker in conjunction with AM. Any way of circumventing it? Thanks.
