I'm using Router Firewall to block the IPs of IDM, ergo, can't access IDM directly.

have you tried this Workaround? DokngFE.gif

Those who wish to be able to download the official installer from the IDM homepage can use the following tip from PITA:

Just add the following entry to IDM - Option >> File types >> Don't start downloading automatically from the following sites:

*.internetdownloadmanager.com

trial version has limitations so trial forever is not the same as patched or ip address block methods

mine is patched. IDM reset itself

As per Developer Notes:--

You'll get the following advantages after the registration:--
  • The license to use Internet Download Manager on one computer for any purpose
  • Additional features not available in the trial version like Remove all completed files from the list, built-in download accelerator to achieve maximum download performance.
  • No IDM usage limitations that existed in the trial version?
  • Prioritized technical support Who Cares? :lmao:

I am using IP Method of blocking, though I'm not using a Firewall Software, I'm using my Router's capability to block the incoming IPs. ;-)

just put the below in the list of exclusion for IDM downloads

*.internetdownloadmanager.com

btw this tip has also been mentioned in the first post of the firewall method

Only way that works for me if i add it to the list and push alt button . If I dont push alt IDM still picks it up.

And Only that works for some firewalls some firewalls they have ips blocked thorough there whole computer and they would have use a web proxy or something .

no such requirement here, check your configuration.

Adding to the list is more than enuff that's why the exclusion list is there.

on my setup It dont work without pushing alt , I'm not going to change my setup just download and installer that I can dl thorough idm with a webproxy I have the proxy in my add on bar i just put the link in it downloads through idm. See I use flashgot as well to pick up downloads that idm dont . flashgot will pick the download up and download it in IDM . Only time Flashgot picks up the download is when idm dont.

that's your wish.

all I am saying is that yours is a particular case.

what is offered as a solution is that which is general and universally applicable. I think dcs18 has already done in his post. ;)

I have and other browser like chrome I can just push alt and download it no need to even add the site to my list . Also J Downloader will download it.

Blocking the whole computer is an incorrect technique stemming from ignorance.

Regardless of the firewall used, no need to keep the Alt key pressed to download the IDM installer from any of the Tonec pages, using the default browser - those who are having to keep the Alt key pressed, have a misconfiguration that they might want to address (if they wish to):--

Some Firewalls dont have app rules so the only way is to block thorough there whole computer and when I tested KIS in A VM the FW kept adding IDM back to trusted on updates . And removing my rules the only fool proof way I found in kis was to block though the whole computer. Your going to tell people there ignorant for blocking ips thorough whole computer when before June everyone was doing it with host blocks ? At lest they thought they was it really wasn't working anymore.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't have KIS on my system - we have a new solution for the KIS firewall which is being beta-tested, ATM.

Times are changing fast - the world is evolving swiftly (the hosts trick, on it's own has become redundant.)

If I do not continue to devote the more than 8-hours-a-day at reverse-engineering and at learning and re-learning new stunts, my son will emerge very soon on these very pages to call me ignorant (ironically, I would love to see that day - in reality, that is a pipe-dream.)

Things like ignorance, notwithstanding - we may or may not have a new solution for Kaspersky Users (only time will tell - one can be sure of one thing though, things are evolving rapidly - we can choose to keep pace or be called ignorant.) :dunno:

Times are not changing much history keeps repeating its self . Chef RES that owns appznet told us how to block IPS of IDM with a FW a very long time ago . The difference was back then people had a choice to block ips with a FW or to use host block . Everyone chose to use host block instead and IDM figured out by using hard coded IPS they could get thorough host blocks . The only thing I seen change was IDM. If they had a choice they would still host blocks but they dont have that option anymore .
