On the 1st page someone say they were having issues with windows 8 and Macrium? Macrium get that all sorted out?

AOMEI Backupper here on techradar got voted in 1st place as far as free .. Macrium is way down in 5th place

I use Macrium Reflect because it is so simple to create a backup that I know I can rely on. With some other backup software, making a reliable backup isn't as easy as it should be.

I prefer doing offline backups - in other words, booting up from a CD and creating the backup knowing that file states might not change throughout the backup.

Between Todo WS (//www.nsaneforums.com/topic/214313-easeus-todo-backup-workstation-6500-build-20140325/)

And Iperius Backup (//www.nsaneforums.com/topic/226391-iperius-backup-full-393/) and Drive Snapshot I see nothing about Macrium to warrant all the fuss about it.

Thanks for the replies here which helped me to see this more clearly.

Terabyte Image for Linux/Windows works for me on all my ~20 computers over the past 9 years. Total backup/restore should be around 300 times and never let me down even a single time. IMO reliability is the sole most important feature for an imaging app. Other features are just icing on a cake, but reliability is the cake.

I use Acronis boot usb as a backup, simply because it's the most widely used imaging app in the market, therefore it must have been used all sorts of hardware and should be the most hardware friendly.
