Update:--

Just helped someone to activate his copy of IDM successfully, over TeamViewer and have the following observations to make:--

  • IDM makes a server check even after the IDMGrHlp.exe file is deleted from the installation directory.
  • If the IDMGrHlp.exe file is deleted or renamed, after a successful activation - IDM makes it known to the User that a file is missing.

host file trick seem to be working now just follow This then block IDMGrHlp with your firewall, no more pop up with fake serial even after few reboot's tested on Win Pro 8.1 x64 no more patching/cracking IDM needed thanks software182 for guide and dsc18 for the tip about blocking IDMGrHlp with your firewall

i don't understand you guys, why don't listen and complicate again and again from build to build

hosts method definitly work

if not work you have some IDM registry CLSID random (lowercase) or/and some IDM regular (uppercase) GUID's keys leftovers because using all kind of a patchers/cracks, under this keys:

on x86 OS

HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\

on x64 OS

HKCU\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\

some of this keys have Query Value deny permission for Everyone so you need use some better registry editor (not windows regedit.exe) to see values under them and clean that leftovers

some of that IDM keys have MDATA values, do you understand this word? MData, and this is important to delete them or delete that keys completely, also some other like:

reg delete HKCU\Software\DownloadManager /v CheckUpdtVM /f
reg delete HKCU\Software\DownloadManager /v scansk /f

after clean that leftovers you will not have problems with hosts method

alternative to hosts method is patching just two bytes in IDMan.exe and program will not call home and check license, you may free check update

in this 6.20.1.3 (retail, in trial versionis same thing but other offset) need change two bytes on this offset:

0x000F48EA: 75 5B -> 90 90

or use this generic patch which work with retail and trial

http://rghost.net/private/56223485/5179139869f42a8e3062395c1ebf3719

after patching, program will not call home, check license and will never create MData values again, of course you need clean existing MData values before, or i need repeat again about MData? :)

of course people who want use hosts and have problems will not listen this so we will see complaining again and again in thread with next build (if developers not change registration schema in coming versions of IDM)

Here is latest Universal IDM Crack, if somebody is interested about it. Contains instructions, release date: yesterday.

http://www.datafilehost.com/d/d8599b53

Source: onhax.net

How to Crack any IDM Version ?

  1. If you updated IDM using quick update, Uninstall your current IDM Installation completly
  2. Then install IDM using the latest setup file from IDM Download Page (go to page)
  3. After that download and Run IDM Universal Activator
  4. Click Crack & Activate button and wait till a window appears
  5. Click Crack & Activate button there too and close the window
  6. Now Enter your First and Last names, Click Change Name
  7. Wait till it say that IDM activated successfully !
  8. Now open IDM and enjoy lifetime full version license
  9. How to Update / When a new version of IDM comes

Do not update IDM via IDM’s quick update ! Instead of that download the latest IDM setup from official IDM site and install it.
http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/download.html
Current: http://mirror2.internetdownloadmanager.com/idman620.exe?b=1&filename=idman620.exe

Then run the Universal Activator again and Press the Crack & Activate > Crack button ! That’s all

it is impossible to make trial reset just with batch using reg.exe and without using other tools because this random GUID's and Query Value deny permission for Everyone, so reg.exe can't find/see all IDM keys/values with MData, of course if program already create that keys with deny permission after calling home and license check or playing with date

i made cleaner which using other tools which can see restricted values and working for me on win7,8,8.1 x64 and x86 but don't work with XP for me (not fully tested)

I'm still confused what the different between Trial and Retail version..please enlighten me

thanks once again..after this, i would like to tried your patch. which the best one.

What is the difference between trial and registered versions?

http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/register/new_faq/purchase6.html

but there is actually not mentioned difference between retail (commercial/consumer version) and trial, probably there is no real functionality difference after register the program

also maybe we need new serials/keygens in major releases in feature if they do this

hosts method definitly work

If I do a clean install and not install over top when I try to register it still calls home... if Im online even with host blocks, this line dont work registeridm.com its making a loop back to 184.173.188.107 I tested it over and over unless I disconnected

it would not register.. Then finally I blocked 184.173.188.107 with Windows ip security policy manger and i could un-register and register with no problem even with my internet on . I tested it with a sniffer and a browser the sniffer says it was doing a check from 2 different urls to 184.173.188.107 . Just installing over top held for me though. .

You can easy test this your self by putting 184.173.188.107 in your browesr with host blocks and see your not really fully blocked.

purpose of hosts is not to blocking

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file

does not matter if you install clean or over or dirty or with sneakers on foot or with ketchup on pasta :)

it's matter that you don't want MData value in registry before put entries in hosts and start program

also, registeridm.com and www.registeridm.com in hosts is two different things

if you not put www.registeridm.com, put that address domain too in hosts

one more thing, in this thread we can see hosts lines like this and that is pure bullshit, useless, nonsense:

127.0.0.1 174.133.70.101:443
127.0.0.1 174.133.70.101:80
127.0.0.1 174.133.70.98

clear the cache and other browser things...

is IDM call home?

if yes then flush dns cache, restart connection, restart windows or something like that after every single change in hosts file

maybe this also help you

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc816827%28v=ws.10%29.aspx

or use some solution like vbs script from here
