Internet Download Manager 6.20

Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a tool to increase download speeds, resume and schedule downloads. Comprehensive error recovery and resume capability will restart broken or interrupted downloads due to lost connections, network problems, computer shutdowns, or unexpected power outages. Simple graphic user interface makes IDM user friendly and easy to use. Internet Download Manager has a smart download logic accelerator that features intelligent dynamic file segmentation and safe multipart downloading technology to accelerate your downloads. Unlike other download managers and accelerators Internet Download Manager segments downloaded files dynamically during download process and reuses available connections without additional connect and login stages to achieve best acceleration performance.

Thanks to sternog for the update.

Just got the update, but still has to use patch / keygen to get it registered.

Downloaded from 2baksa, installed - no need for patching, or activating via keygens, serials, etc., etc. and no cursing & swearing, either.

Did not even bother to check the registration status - guess there are many hosts Users like me who quite confidently just know that it works for all time to come.

The following are the entires that I have in my hosts file, which is read-only, still, the IDM checks the license and have to use patch / keygen to get it working. Could you tell what's the cause. I have done almost six clean install despite this no results:

then reinstall 6.20 and open IDM and input the new serial. Hope this helps.

@ sperm

The general practice is to upload the serial / license / product-key to a host like PasteBin and then ShareCode link of the PasteBin file location, over here. ;)

Just realized that the fake serial pop up had come back again after restart but I can re-register by manually delete serial in registry key.

What am I missing in host file? I use the same as listed by Rok and already make it read only.

Guys, guys, guys... No need to mess up your registry and host file... I have figured out how this nasty serial check works long time ago. Luckily, it appears that it is still the same in this version.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Download the installer from the IDM's website.

2. Start the installation on a fresh system, or on top of your current IDM installation. It doesn't really matter.

3. DO NOT CLICK THE "FINISH" BUTTON. This prevents the IDM and its components from running automatically. If IDM or any of its components are running, kill all of them.

4. Download and extract these three files in the installation directory. The three files are "patch.exe", "keygen.exe", and "IDMGrHlp.exe"

5. Apply the awesome "patch.exe" by BRD, and generate your serial using the awesome "keygen.exe" by BRD

6. Click the "FINISH" button to complete the installation and start IDM.

Question: So, what the hell is this "IDMGrHlp.exe" file that I am extracting to the installation directory???

Answer: Well, it is a "dummy" file. It is just a batch script compiled using Quick Batch File Compiler that contains nothing but the "exit" command.

Question: Ok, so why do I need to replace the original "IDMGrHlp.exe" with your dummy file?

Answer: That is because the original IDMGrHlp.exe is the program that connects to IDM's servers and blacklists your pirated serial numbers.

Question: What if I don't trust your dummy IDMGrHlp.exe? What can I do?

Answer: You can make your own. Compile your own dummy executable, or you can simply copy your own PING.EXE from your system32 directory, rename it to IDMGrHlp.exe, and replace the original with it. So basically, IDM will execute your ping.exe instead of IDMGrHlp.exe when it wants to perform a server check.

Question: Why ping.exe? Can I use other executable instead?

Answer: It doesn't really matter. I just like ping.exe because it is small and it terminates itself automatically after launching it without the correct syntax. You can use any executable you want, just make sure it will terminate itself automatically. Otherwise, it will use your precious system resources in the background.

Question: Do I have any other alternative methods instead of replacing the IDMGrHlp.exe?

Answer: You have two options:

1) Simply delete your IDMGrHlp.exe from the installation folder. IDM will complain and tell you to reinstall. You can ignore that, IDM will still run.

2) I suspect you can block IDMGrHlp.exe with your firewall so it will not be able to validate your serial. But I haven't tested that yet because I prefer to replace my IDMGrHlp.exe with a dummy file.
