Next Nexus might come from Lenovo

Recommended Posts

Lenovo, the company that has just announced it will acquire Motorola from Google, might be the one to make a Nexus device in the future, and that device might be one of the last gadgets in the Nexus family.
The information comes from well-connected Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin, who has earlier predicted that Google will kill its Nexus line after one final run of devices to be released in 2014. The blogger further foresees the Nexus series to get replaced by Google Play edition devices.
“Lenovo will launch one of the last Nexus product, volume will be huge and it will be focused on US market,” Murtazin revealed in a tweet. The blogger has a mixed track record, so we would take this with a grain of salt, but it definitely sounds possible. We have heard about a Motorola-made Nexus smartphone being in the works way back in the summer of 2013. The rumor then speculated that the Nexus 5 will be manufactured by Motorola, and it came from an equally well-connected Android blogger, Taylor Wimberly.
Could it be that those plans for a Motorola-made Nexus smartphone actually applied to 2014 rather than 2013? With Lenovo taking over Moto, we see no reason for Lenovo not bring these plans to fruition, if it indeed inherits such plans from Motorola.
