HX1
I dunno..IMO .. I know people who constantly re-install/format their hard drives... Its a waste of time for me.. and I would be probably spending more time doing this than I would if I had protected it, and learned how to run/fix a system..Not to mention.. Yes I have an EXTENSIVE archive of all of my programs.. but the time it would take to rebuild my system .. would be ridiculous.. not to mention all of the settings/customizing.. so Yeah for some that may work.. for me .. LOL.. NOOoo..
Bizarre™
@heath28m:Indeed :yes:It's not only a waste of time, but also causes quick wear and tear on the HD.

Quest2be1
I use Avira and I love it. I have used all of the above AV programs and there are only a select few that I personally do not like at all. In terms of Avira, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, EST, and Avast this becomes strictly a matter of opinion for which you prefer. I feel the ones I named in particular are all top AV programs. Bizarre™
@dhijack: Try VirusTotal.
Administrator DKT27 Posted September 18, 2009 Administrator Share Posted September 18, 2009 @dhijack: For Offline AV scan you can try Symantec. For malware scan you can try malwarebytes anti malware. My favorite. If you are still not happy, you can try Microsoft malicious software removal tool. ;)
Viktor
Kaspersky (KIS), Avira SS or Eset SS.Still waiting on a perfect Combo of KIS & Outpost fW pro, because the FW of KIS can be better... :D
silencer
Now I'm using Eset Smart Security, but firewall in this product is so lame... Still waiting for full support Win 7 by Agnitum Outpost Internet Security, beacuse I love their firewall - one of the best imo.
Administrator DKT27 Posted September 19, 2009 Administrator Share Posted September 19, 2009 Try comodo (firewall only) and trash ESET SS and use ESET NOD32. ;)
silencer
First: I really don't like Comodo... I don't know, something in interface and configuration is pissing me off. Maybe current version is better, but when I tried 2.0/2.5 it was horrible to use. Hell of alerts. Someday I'll try this new 3.1 release, but now I don't have time to "play" with it (configuration).Second: I prefer av and fw in one soft. Smaller memory usage, system resources and better compatibility between them.Anyway thanx for solution. ;)
manpe
Just changed to Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.4.1150 for Windows Workstations. It's in RC at the moment... will be testing it ;)
Hottwire
Hey guys, I currently am using AVG, but i want to move away to another antivirus with less hassle I'm leaning towards Eset because of this poll. AVG was really good system wise until the last program update then it started getting resource hogging, i really like AVG,haven't had any problems it defends when it needs to the only downside is that it is It catches lots of cracks and keygens. it likes to false positive a lot. so if i was to move away i would want one that doesn't remove my keygens and cracks so i can actually use them before not being allowed to download the file again because i already downloaded it 2-3 times lol Apart from that small problem i really like AVG and would recommend it. I don't have to change my key because it will work until 2018 unless they do a mass program update lol :D Currently running: Windows 7 RC 7100 4GB Ram Intel core 2 Duo ~ 2.4 , 3.0Ghz BFG 8800GTS BFG Physx card Creative X-fi Xtreme Music 2 hdds ~ 1 Documents (230gb) ~ 2 640gb If anyone could tell me if Eset is fine on win 7 then that would be really helpful! :) Thanks Hottwire
