I've bought nod before when it was on sale and may do that again - or maybe not.

Just asked here in hopes that there was a really good fix I didn't know about or had not seen.

There's lots of things for me to try and that's what I'll do before buying it again...

As to kids - everybody has their own ways and their own opinions of how to do things.

In my opinion, as long as they stay out of trouble, away from addictive stuff, avoid early pregnancy, respect the adult's need for a clean, bug-free house, and bathe at least semi-regularly - they get to make their own choices and keep their own spaces.

If/when they screw up badly=> that's different IMO.

Right now...it's all good so I leave 'em to do stuff their own way & learn from it.

I do things my way - you do things your way - and we can be civil to one another without having to worry about it...right ???

Asking for pointers and recommendations about my AV stuff is not the same as asking about how to handle family stuff - and when it comes to software I know there's lots of folks who know about alot more stuff than I do...so I ask, and usually learn about good stuff that way.

Thanks:

Avast Pro and BitDefender comes to my mind. Not sure of others.

Any opinion of Baidu AV ??

Knowing and reading about Baidu's past and it's direct connection with the authorities, I'll personally avoid using it. ;)

Well this was meaningful before Snowden Leaks :D, Now we know there is NSA.. and a lot of unknown secrets

agreed if the pc's are in my house i can use or look at them when i want. if the kids dont like it they can move out.

Kids must be watched because as we all know the world is full of monsters =), when they are over 18 then it's mostly their problem

True. But I'll still not trust anything Baidu or any such big Chinese company. The problem here is not Chinese, but the major companies there not only have direct connections to the govt. but the people in govt. there themselves own these companies.

As for ESET, it's an Slovakian company, so it's relatively better.

Smallhagrid doesn't seem to want any opinions on this matter, but, as an 19 year old person myself, knowing how things work, I completely agree with you. Then again, giving them their space is important too.

i give them all the space they want when it comes to freinds and phone, tv (except porn) etc. but the internet is imo a different animal.

i in no way was telling you how to raise your family just making suggestions. my sister is a former principle and now guidance counsler and i hear about crap like this happening all the time. so im a bit more protective i guess.

1- I agree about Chinese companies, but I don't trust them a lot not because they have direct connections to the govt. but because I See China as a non democratic state, with no freedom of speech..unlike USA, that's all

2- For the Kids subject, I totally agree with you =)

1. Asian source (see post above).

2. BD based.

Thanks for the recommendation anyhow...I'm not comfortable with Chinese/Asian AV offerings.
