Usually we add applications when there is an update and then we add a note to the post on the frontpage, but when we list applications which did not get a recent update it is often forgotten that this particular update is the first update to this application and therefore should contain the note ;)

We could however consider to post to the frontpage anyway, even when there is no new update, just to show this application has been added... Not sure what to do.

I see what you mean shought. As of now there is only one listing waiting to be frontpaged (PowerISO) for the first time.

I got what you are saying. If a software is posted on frontpage for the first time and updated at a same time, I'll keep an eye on the first post. :D

At first I had a little trouble finding out what 'Speecy' is :P But then I realised it was Speccy.

I believe we talked about this previously as well, not sure why we didn't list it... Will pass it on (to the staff section) :)

Even I support Norton. So many guys can't be wrong. If not frontpaged, what I'll like to see is the members posting it's updates regularly.

About Speccy, it's good, simple, giving all the needful info, but needs to be given time. ;)

I've seen Adobe Flash Player frontpaged. I'd like to suggest Shockwave and Air to be frontpaged. I also thank you all for frontpage Piriform's Speecy.

The main reason for Adobe Flash Player not being front paged earlier was that you would get in anyway when browsing a site requiring it. The introducing of a download manager to get it made us decide to provide direct links for it on the front page. Will check up those suggestions...

I think we have discussed it before. Winzip doesn't offer anything additional to what WinRAR or 7-Zip offers. WinRAR and 7-Zip have far better compression rate and also good in speed. I used to love Winzip before, but then I did some tests and found WinRAR and 7-Zip beats Winzip all the way.

But we'll re-consider. :)

I'm using cometbird as my favorite Web browser and I like it very much. I want to make two questions: 1- Do you want Cometbird to be frontpaged for those persons who don't have this app and they want a way easy to find and download? or 2- Do you want Cometbird to be frontpaged to be noticed that there's an update when it becomes available?.

I'll give my own answers:

1- Yes. I think It's a point to be taken into consideration.

2- No. Because if do you have Cometbird installed then itself do a check for updates... if are any then it download and install this update.

A new suggestion. A button to make website refresh or an script to make it refresh automatically (or when an update for a programme is posted) should be added.

A script which could be turned on or off with a button (which would store the setting in a cookie or something) shouldn't be too hard to create, but there's already a Firefox extension which allows you to reload any page, so I don't really think we need it on our frontpage...

Refreshing whenever there's new content would require some more difficult javascript and would considerably increase server load, I think... I don't think this is going to happen either, sorry :(

ps Tab Mix Plus allows you to reload the page every ... sec/min, if you're interested ;)

I'd like to suggest Google Chrome Frame to be added to frontpage. It's a good add-on for IE. (I don't actually use IE, but sometimes is necesary for me use it). I've been using it since it was first released (pre-alpha, alpha, beta). IE works better with it.

Our policy regarding addons has been pretty strict, they can be posted as separate software in the Software News but we won't list it on the frontpage.

I do think a comprehensive list of for instance Firefox add-ons would be appreciated by our members so we might think about adding that, not sure about IE...
