Used the removal tool, uninstalled windows live safety scanner and tried to install ESS, still no results. I've got a new log of that installation if you wish? Maybe it differs, i guess it doesn't(still the same error). I'm 99% sure the problem is caused by installing/stopping/configuring the epfw driver(Eset Personal FireWall driver). shought
usman i followed all your instructions, still eset won't install. Would you like the TRLOG.txt(Trojan Remover log)? I did get one error, about a rootkit driver. Every time it sais it will delete after a restart, but it doesn't. When i scan again i get the same error:Hidden Services entry: [vdrv8000]Entry has been scheduled for deletion when the PC is restartedI guess it isn't able to perform this action or just doesn't...This is a persistent bug isn't it...? shought
Shoughthow about letest v642 did it solve you problem?I'm on a pc at school right now, didn't have the time to try it yet. I installed EAV for the time being, every time i need to keep installing, uninstalling, installing, uninstalling and so on :smoke: But i'll try it when i get home(a couple of hours). shought
The latest version(642) didn't solve my problem, the same error. However i think i've found the problem. Even after uninstalling ESS/EAV there's a few registry keys left which i can not remove. They're legacy drivers of epfw(eset personal firewall). I think those 'legacy drivers' are my problem. So i'm sending you a part of my registry now usman, maybe you can make something out of it, because i know i can't. I just tried to delete them but i couldn't, so if anyone has a way to delete 'locked' registry keys, please tell me(i am administrator, so that has nothing to do with it).Edit: I changed permissions now i can delete them, restarting now and posting results in a few minutes.Edit: Crap still no luck... Looking for more possible solutions...
shought
Which AS or FW do you have installed?_ Run online Scan at Kaspersky or / & Ewido/AVG AS / Trendmicro_ Use CCleaner for cleaning_ Delete Eset program files_ Delete Windows Prefetch _ Disable System-Restore XP, Reboot, Enable it_ Run Chckdsk & sfc /scannow (XP CD necessary)(* in case of not genuine XP, you have to use activation crack again :dance2: )Good Luck :PMan, sorry i noticed your post this late. Was buzzy doing usmans idea's. Uhm, how do i disable prefetch? The rest i can take care of... Can i also use the i386 folder on my drive as a xp cd? shanijee
if you delete prefetch you have to install window again do not do thisseeA detailed, technical description of what prefetching is and how it works may be found here:http://://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/0...el/default.aspxThe details are about %20 down the page. In a nutshell, items in your prefetch folder are *not* loaded into memory at boot, unless they are specifically related to the boot process. Leaving them be will only speed the launch times of the applications you use frequently. Deleting them will slow the next boot/application launch, at which time the relevant prefetch files will be recreated (unless explicitly deactivated via the registry).
