You might notice that there are many services around to make your long links short (shortening services).One of the most popular here is: bitly.com. Well. They all are easy to use.1. Put your long link into the mask on the website.2. Press the button.3. Copy the result into the clipboard.4. Put the shortened link from clipboard to the required position elsewhere.However there is one service that seems to be much more comfortable: 4c3.de. Why so comfortable? It has a Firefox Add-On!To use this Firefox Add-On you have to install Add-On Compatibility Reporter. After installing Add-On Compatibility Reporter your compatibility function will be disabled. Please note that some of your Add-On's can be incompatible fully and need to be removed or disabled.Preparation steps: 1. Install Add-On Compatibility Reporter. 2. Restart Firefox. Now your compatibility function in Firefox is disabled. 3. Install 4c3.de URL Shortener. 4. Restart Firefox. Now all functionality of the 4c3.de URL Shortener is enabled. Steps for usage:1. Click the link you want to shorten with the right mouse button. A context menu appears. 2. Now choose from there "Trim this link-url". That's it. The link you want to shorten has been copied to clipboard already!Now how to cover those URL's which are in the address-bar? Easy. Place a 4c3.de button to your toolbar like this! majithia23 Posted September 6, 2011 Share Posted September 6, 2011 nice .... +1 ;)there is one more way . the Flag Fox FF extension .A very good add on with plenty of tools in it ( than merely a flag Indicator . ) including the url shortener ......see here --- just right click on the small logo in your address bar and you have all the options that you enabled.in this case , click on the bit.ly and it would automatically open a page with the shortened url ..done ... :)Enable all you want and it becomes one of the many indispensable tools .
