Sceners Threaten to Destroy BitTorrent, “One Step at a Time”

SuperTorrents recently fell victim to an attack by alleged ‘Scene’ members who revealed the site owner’s identity. Further action was promised against torrent sites and today another tracker admin’s life has been turned upside down. The attacker’s message: “Destroying The P2P’s, One Step at a Time”

At the end of last year we reported on the unfortunate fate of Ersan, the administrator of SuperTorrents. He suffered multiple security breaches which revealed his identity along with the loss of $2000 in donations. Scene notices (text files carrying news/other info) carried lots of the gory details, with one ending in a threat: “cellkill is next”.

It seems that “cellkill” - the administrator of Feedthe.net (also known as FTN) has become the group’s latest BitTorrent victim, exactly as promised. In yet another notice with the header “Destroying The P2Ps, One Step at a Time”, part of the justification for the attack reads:

“Many have heard of him, but have never spoke to him, for a p2per word of him has come far as the scene. [real name removed], the owner of another torrent site called FeedThe.Net (FTN). His Torrent site steals thousands after thousands of releases from the scene, and then he has the nerve to go and say to other P2P’s STOP STEALING RELEASES FROM US?!??!? ILL BAN YO ASS! But wait, how is this even possible??

[real name removed] isn’t on the “Staff” page yet he’s still banning people, posting news and running the entire site. Mr. [removed], did you really think you were gonna leave without us giving you a goodbye present? Guess again ;-)”

The grim reality becomes clear as detail after detail of this admin’s personal life is revealed. His real name, date of birth, place of residence, personal email addresses, home ISP and IP address, places of education, friends, family - it’s quite a grim read. The claim that CELLKiLL is currently studying ‘Computer Security’ must pile on the embarrassment in spades. Family and friends who have also had their identities revealed can’t be too pleased that their FaceBook profiles are now public information.

Does this action against FTN signal the end of this ‘war’ on BitTorrent or will the MPAA and RIAA be rubbing their hands with delight on a regular basis? At least one other admin has been threatened for helping the admin of SuperTorrents after the original attack but there aren’t any more specifics at the moment.

The attackers left with this message: “We have yet again erased another torrent admin from existence. Other Groups, do your part to make the scene what it was in the beginning. Secure.”

If people put their work on P2P they will get credit for it, almost always their names are included... Many times even the nfo's of the crack/patch-team are included. I guess it's their problem that they get credit for it, there's alot of people out there who don't like cracks... So if they get too well-known they might get caught or something?

:D Nothing new there then, the "scene"has always had a hatred for p2p,but for them to be arrogant enough to think they can kill p2p is hilarious.Sounds to me like a few script bunnys need there diapers changing. :D

I sort of understand where they are coming from.

From every description of the scene that I've come across, it sounds to me as though it was only meant for the privileged few. They go to great measures to keep their stuff secure.

It begs the question, "Why is this stuff making it out then?"

To me, it seems the obvious answer is that there are people WITHIN the scene that are NOT FOLLOWING THE RULES.

P2P just amplifies the natural process of those people. Once it's on P2P, the nature of it is to spread as fast as possible with as many peers as possible.

Though attacking P2P will get a large chunk of the problem, the original one still remains. Those within the scene that are not following the rules. Once ONE person lets the file loose, it's pretty much over is it not?

I do agree that security is an issue, but I think they are attacking the wrong group. Find the inside leaks first, then work your way out to get rid of the remnants.

It's because they do not want to attract the wrong kind of attention & have it lead back to the group, then on to various top sites.

plus you got friends of theirs with access to the special websites/places of these elite groups. then it gets posted on newsgroups. then the last on p2p networks. now what they are not telling you is that some sceners do it to make money from chinese/russain mobs. where you think all thoses good and mostly shitty cams bootlegs new releases come from?

crap going on is most likely someone that is piss and getting at the admins of a couple of p2p sites. they have very large egos

than god we have the hollywood elite oscar etc voters that release dvd scrs instead

JunkInternetMail

This isn't complicated...

The bottom line is, most people are warez whores just to collect as much digital shit as possible.

And those same people are mostly fucking retarded.

They apply the fixes wrong, sell shit, or spread releases out into the public eye which draws unwanted attention.

INTERNAL releases DO get leaked by MEMBERS of the team which labeled it INTERNAL.

Those same members, frequently also share top site or private ftp access to their "closest friends" which in turn gets leaked as well.

With torrent sites getting hit harder and harder by law enforcement and lawsuits, properly labeled and archived releases point fingers.

Those fingers help create new leads and trails to which groups are a bigger "threat" to the various industries.

Since the dawn of time, 0day has hated www teams, www teams didn't understand why, and p2p has lacked all respect for both.

See, the real reasons anyone pioneers a new scene is to do things better than the guy before them...

So here's what's good: www charges nothing, makes nothing, never sells, but is wide open to just about any kind of attack or law enforcment

So here's what's bad: 0day is elite and somewhat arrogant; they don't wish to share with the whole world, do card, and sometimes make $$$

So here's what's ugly: P2P and Warez Forums have become "pay to play" or "share for status" and this is in direct violation of Good and Bad.

These private trackers and forums which ask for donations to belong or have limited # of members break their own rules.

The more you have to share the better your status is and they will find an invitation for you to join.

People will lie, cheat, steal and hack to get on some limited/private P2P networks/trackers and even rip releases claiming them as their own.

There is no way to truly police any scene from leaks or rips and all scenes have flaws.

The biggest problem here is some guys are soooo fucking stupid that they will involve the law, AGAIN.

Their identity is released and them being targeted pirates will have a wake up call because of it and decide to change their ways.

The 1st guy to the police gets the best deal to avoid jail and $$$ fines.

What's really bad here is we all on some level are guilty of stealing, making us pirates or thieves and there is NO HONOR AMONG THIEVES!

lets see, the secne group going to try and take down bit torrent sites and the admins, well lets see, only way to do that is to totaly take the whole entire inter link down and redo it from scratch. thus would cost to much money lost, jobs lost, militarys useless from all the computers they use. so every thing would have to be done on paper. just to much hassel to redo the entire inter link.

From frontpage of ftn: Looks like they didn't kinda win, lol.. :)

Well well.. Looks like I just made history \o/

But ya know what? Today, even more history will be made.

I must say, it feels kinda cool to become an overnight celebrity.. I should be thanking the people in question, because this is what I needed to put me back into the game.

You see, I left FTN because of a few reasons, not just because of school. Sometimes people get tired of work, we move on and pursue new and exciting things. Well, looks like my excitement just came back to life.

After I left, many other torrent administrators and staff members contacted me. It was quite amazing to see the level of companionship and bonding made between many sites after such a small thing (at least in my eyes) had happened. It also brought a new perspective into my eyes, as personally it was quite an unexpected notion.

So, lets talk about a few things here.

First off, the info in the nfo you guys are all scurrying around about isn't entirely legit. I'd first like to point out that you have no proof that any of that info is even mine, or even real. Second off, to prove it.. Please give me a call on the phone number supplied. I'd love to chat with you all, but I don't think I'll be at the other end of that call. You shouldn't always believe what you see, and I'm sure most of you know I'm not dumb enough to just allow my life to be an open book.

Honestly, I feel a bit sorry for CELLKiLL because that NFO was embarrassing on their part, and I still don't even believe it was them. After seeing the thing on ersan, where he was hacked and abused.. And then seeing one about me where they supposidly just copied info from facebook? Oh come on.. How proud can you be for copy pasting info anyways. Making claims about not wanting me to be your computer administrator yet you cant even hack me? Anyone can use google, anyone can go to facebook and look up people. You only made yourself look stupid with that one.

It's not wise to kick a horse that's already down. I had left ftn far b4 this attack was made, and I can't say there's any honor in what they did. But as a treat to CELLKiLL, who "took down yet another admin (ehem, sysop? hello? at least get the rank correct..)" who was already gone?? LOL. Ladies, Gentleman, I'm back.

Guess your plan backfired on you CELLKiLL. By the way, I'm still very much in scene, come and find me. Oh, and if you wanna stop by my address (which is just a college street on campus lmao) please do. We can hang out or something, maybe laugh about how lame your desperate attempt was.

At this point, FTN has a new outlook on the torrent community. I ask all those torrent administrators who have been in contact with me, as well as any others to unite together and continue to work as a team. Please, don't pm me saying you're sorry about what happened, because no harm has come to me from this.

//Brandon

ps: At least two members of CELLKiLL sell ftp leech, I find that funny considering they talk about being secure.

Here's one member..

<removed>

I just realized, I don't want to be like you.

How the hell is it possible to destroy BitTorrent? Even if you shut down every tracker (HAHA) there are still things like DHT's, which means that to destroy BitTorrent, you'd need to shut down every person that uses it. That's the beauty of 'torrent. No central server.

It's easy to CRIPPLE torrents...

IT's the latest fab for script kiddies...they just upload empty packets into your stream and a few days later you go to unrar and get tons of errors.

You can also hack down the sites hosting the torrent links which is what these guys are doing...

Pay attention to this story because it'll probably get ugly...

Good Afternoon, first of all sorry about my bad english

Like Said JunkInternetMail, the War is open against those #@#& torrent sites and we will bring them down.

First of all, the Base of the "W@-rez" was to share things and NOT MAKING MONEY with our releazes !! So, those sites has to be killed. They dont' F#@#& do anything IN the "Scene" but only Steals our Stuff and sharing accros the Globe.

The second thing is about Our security !! with the years, more and more people got broadband internet at home and everybody can share now !! this has for effect that less and less people buy movies, music, games in the stores !! Just have a look to the sales statistics... So, the Track against Us rises more and more every year and Now it's more than enough. Something has to be done for us to be safe and return to the underground of the web....

P2P is a threat for us and that's all!

again, sorry for my bad english and if it was better i cwould be able ti explain it probably with other words and more deeply to understand it better ...

By the way, i'm retired.

Regards,

Phobos

I understand your problem now... But i think violence only leads to violence, so wouldn't it be better to make a program or something like that to spread your releases safe amongst the people? Without having fingers pointing at you?

Owch! dear dear me...

Lets just say- the whole webspace is full of n00bs, even the one's that are of an opinion of being pros- they are n00bs in other areas...

My philosophy- you are worth something or anything as long as you there for general good and no big finnancial gains (ie downloadin, burning, then selling movies) is your main moto...

For the ones that are after fight- let them fight whatever is worth fighting (unfortunately once you are in such mindset) its matter of time before you get worthy knock on the door..
