martina
the Omega drivers are alternative drivers for ATI graphic cards.homepage + download:http://www.omegadrivers.net/changelog:v4.8.442[*] Based on the Catalyst 7.12 Official drivers.[*] Major video card support rewrite from scratch. This time every Radeon card under the sun should be supported, if the divers don't install on your card you either have a freak of nature card or a card too new that not even the ATI has support for it. (Many thanks to all the people that sent their unsupported IDs)[+] Added support for desktop HD3k Series and laptop HD2k Series.[+] Experimental Gamma settings. Now whatever gamma setting you set on your desktop should pass on to your 3D applications. (tested with Adobe Gamma)[+] The "temporary" fix for AGP cards still included. Waiting for ATI releases an official fix... *sigh*[*] Upgraded installer to reflect logo/site changes.[*] Upgraded drivers to v4 because of the previous details, plus thanks to a new install method I found, reduced the driver's size by a lot without loosing any features or options.*note*Windows Vista is currently not supported. martina
Anyone ever used these 'Omega' drivers before? Are they any better then the normal ATI ones?I used to use them for quite some time and they are stable (at least they where).they are supposed to offer little more performance, but I never bothered to actually compare the official drivers with the Omega ones.I have used them in the past and they worked well. I thought he stopped making drivers so I stopped using them, I will try them out once again.he even started working on the Nvidia drivers again :-)
shought
Ok thanks for your replies, i'll try them ;-)I tried them, i can't really tell the difference... Maybe a slight performance boost in my games. And it doesn't come with the annoying Catalyst Control Center which starts by loading the process CLI.exe in the memory(3 TIMES!!!) and takes away every performance my computer ever gave me. So that's a nice one :dance2:

Zeus_Hunt
He's releasing nvidia drivers again?? omfg, awesome, gotta compare them to xtreme-g drivers i'm using..omega drivers i tried used to be great..Unfortunately XTreme-G still is Based on Forceware 93.71 way back in 11-06-2006So I dont know how u will compare them..What's New in Omega nVidia Drivers?v1.169.25* Based on the Forceware 169.25 Official drivers.+ Added resolutions not available on normal drivers and tweaked some that where.* Added D3D/OGL tweaks.+ My first Omega Drivers release for Windows Vista.Known Issues:Since this is my first nvidia driver's release for Vista and I have been working hard on the website, some features will not be available at the moment, like for example, laptop support, yeah, sorry, but I had to cut something out in order to make the release on time with the new website. Don't worry thou, laptop support will be added on next release for sure or in a possible re-release of the 169.25 drivers, that will depend on how fast nvidia releases their next WHQL set.Other Important Notes:The drivers can be installed just by upgrading your current drivers, that is, when changing between the same driver series, for example: 16x.xx->16x.xx, 17x.xx->17x.xx, etc.If you are changing from one series to another, ex 16x.xx->17x.xx, it is recommended that you use uninstall previous drivers before upgrading, this is done to prevent possible issues between driver series. When possible use default settings.Always make sure you have the latest chipset drivers for your MB or your laptop installed, this will prevent compatibility issues and other problems in games.Download nVidia_Omega_Vista_1.169.25Download nVidia_Omega_XP2k_2.169.

Bravo
I've used omega in the past, and didn't notice anything before. As for having to install the CCC, just download the standalone display driver from ATI's site, select custom, and uncheck everything but the drivers. Works fine for me, and no extra processes. Not saying your way is bad or anything! It's also a good way to free up some resources.

geko
I have a question. I think I know the answer but...I have an old graphics card. In ATI's webpage its discontinued (no support for it, no new drivers). It's a Rage Fury product. Not Radeon. I've been looking at Omegadriver homepage and don't see any reference to Rage Fury. So, the question would be... Do these drivers work for Rage Fury??I supose not, but...If not, anyone who still uses an old graphic card, like mine or similar, knows where I can install some new drivers? SoftChip
Nope... from Catalyst 6.11 (6.6 in Omega), only Radeon 9250+ are supported... Before 6.11/6.6, only Radeon is.I have a question.
