Thanks. Atleast their Anti-Virus is extremely good.

Best of all, after each update, you can build an stand-alone .EXE package with all latest definitions (if u want to install it on another computer, with the latest

updates already in the package..) from the AV itself!

Never seen such option on any AV..

edit: weird..it still shows up as commercial on Rising english web pages:

http://www.rising-global.com/

You sure this offer ain't for only chinese people?

edit2:

According to THIS article,it reverts to FREE after first update..

Rollback RX time.. Gotta test this. :D

Ok, so I decided to give this one a try, I am always a sucker for

security software that I have never tried.

Setup: The set up was easy enough, and gave the user the choice over different

modules that were installed. After instalation, you will want to update the software.

As a side note, a large pop up displayed stating that the software was free, and if you

clik on the "License" button, it will in fact repeat the pop up confirming this.

The only other thing to note is that the set up did not pick up Firefox as my browser,

but instead listed only 1 browser, ie.

Interface: The user interface, while it seems to have a variety of settings,

it seems "superficial", meaning the settings seem more like a placebo than

actually doing anything important. Oh, you can enable and disable a wide range of

settings, but not much else. Also, there is this "Rising" lion character that I have yet

to discover the purpose for, but since anything displayed from it is in chinese, I am

not likely too. This too can be disabled.

The program does not seem to integrate with Firefox, and in fact defaults to ie when opening

a browser. There is no setting to correct this, at least none that I have found.

Test: The only test I have given it so far is the most common eicar test. This text string was written

basically to test installation and integration of AV software. ALL av software I have had up to this

point has always picked up on this file, until now. I am afraid that Rising did not recognize this test

file as a virus at all. I tried 4 methods of acquiring this file, and opening the file, and Rising ignored

it completely. When I engaged "manual" file scan, Rising passed the file as 100% virus free.

Not a good thing in my view, as this txt string was specifically written to set off even the most basic

of scanners.

I am afraid that my opinion of this AV is very low. I will await another opinion, maybe I missed something

in the settings, but I doubt it.
