Macoland
A faulty signature update from Kaspersky Lab on Wednesday flagged up Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) as infected with a low-risk virus, Huhk-C. As a result the core Windows component was quarantined or worse.Kaspersky released a revised update alongside advice on how to recover legitimate system and application files from quarantine (the default setting) within two hours. But that's not much consolation for users that had set their software to auto-delete infected files, who found themselves with hosed systems.Among those affected was Reg reader Carl. "A false positive caused the deletion of explorer.exe.," he reports. "It would have only caused problems for companies performing their network scan during the hours that the dodgy update was present - which included me, unfortunately. I was working out of hours to fix the previous Kaspersky update problem. I finally finished sorting it all at 5am.".Original Article
toyo
I was ok... nothing happened. Even then, all stuff that's deleted is in "Backup". So no "hours of working...". Problem was sorted in less than 2 hrs (by Kaspersky - sending out a good update file).

toyo
There are plenty of Kaspersky/NOD32 hate topics all around the net. I don't want this happening here, this does not bring any good to the community. I thought I was clear on my 1st post

I don't want this happening here, this does not bring any good to the community. I thought I was clear on my 1st postYep, nod32 <---> kasperky is like bush <---> saddam. But i really dont understand the 'why'... What the hell does it matter that some people like and use nod32 and others use kasperky. For one nod32 is better and for the other is kasperky the best. I might be able to understand this is you were a developer but costumers? It's just like kids: my ... is better then your ...!
Donkeyhootie
Since I don't use either Kaspersky or NOD32, I guess it doesn't matter to me. But something like this does make me wonder about Kaspersky.Just another useful bit of info to put in my data bank.
