Administrator Lite Posted December 19, 2007 Administrator Share Posted December 19, 2007 Business IT users and others found botnets forming the greatest security threat in 2007, security firm Bitdefender has said.The Trojan.Peed.Gen, colloquially known as the Storm Worm or Nuwar has made up nearly 34 per cent of malware this year, the firm has announced.Second on the list at just under 25 per cent was BehavesLike:Trojan.Downloader.Viorel Canja, head of the firm's anti-virus lab, said: "The past year has seen both the tail end of the mass mailer age and the rise of the botnets as the top threat category."The company has predicted that spam will be the biggest worldwide threat in 2008, rising as the US presidential election draws nearer.Bitdefender's 2007 spam list put Penny Stock Spam top of the list, with phishing scams down in sixth.
