When you browse the Web, changes occur to your computer system. Some of these might be harmful, like the unsolicited installation of malware. When you use Sandboxie to protect your browsing session, it catches all these changes just as the browser is about to apply them into your computer system. Sandboxie does record these changes on behalf of the browser, but it records them in a special isolated folder, called the sandbox. Thus, with Sandboxie, you can browse the Web securely while still keeping all your browser's functionality for active and dynamic content, such as javascript and ActiveX. All undesired side effects can be easily undone.

Thanks to thylacine for the update.

Again excellent added info provided by thylacine in the frontpage updates thread felt needed to be included in the fp thread itself:

Sandboxie 3.57.01 Beta

Version 3.57.01 enhances the black window that appears when a program in the sandbox wants administrator privileges:

- Includes a note that explains that programs will continue to run under Sandboxie even with administrator privileges.

- Window can be moved or minimized.

- If you click cancel, the elevation attempt is aborted without a follow-up second (or even a third) elevation prompt that you would also have to cancel.

- When Drop Rights is in effect and message SBIE2219 is issued, you also see a new message SBIE2220 which offers an easy way to turn off the Drop Rights setting.

Version 3.57.01 enhances the color border feature a bit:

- On Windows 7 when Aero is enabled, the Sandboxie border rectangle wraps around the Aero border rather than be on top of it.

- The border should hopefully follow the window more closely during a window resize/move operation.

- The border goes invisible if any part of it would be obscured by a window that is "always on top".

- Sandbox Settings > Appearance offers new option to display the border only when the mouse is in the window title area.

- When a new sandbox is created, the default is now to have a yellow border that appears when the mouse is in the title area.

For 64-bit Windows 7, which version of Sandboxie should I install? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Will Sandboxie get into conflict with KIS 2012?

Thanks for help.

x86 wont work on x64 system. You'll have to use the 64bit version. But there's no patch for 64bit hence you'll have to use the free version. I don't think it has any compatibility problems with KIS (not sure though).

@DKT27

Thank you so much for the reply.

I wrong assumed that I could installed 32-bit Sandboxie to protect 32-bit Internet Explorer 9, since I do not use 64-bit Internet Explorer 9 at all. Guess that I was wrong.

Anyway, KIS 2012 also has its own sandbox protection, aka Safe Run For Websites. Perhaps, the common sense is not to run both Safe Run For Websites and Sandboxie, but I could be wrong.

Ah. I didn't know KIS had sandbox. So yes, it's best not to use both at the same time.
