ESET Smart Security is a fully integrated security solution and includes antivirus, anti-spyware, a personal firewall and antispam. While some competitive solutions purport to have similar functionality, ESET has developed a unique approach that provides true and full integration of point security solutions. The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET's well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual's computer.

Thanks to thylacine for the update.

A bit more than a Beta then? RC (= Release Candidate) is more or less like an advanced beta version ain't it?

When do you reckon we shall have the final version then?

A Release Candidate is exactly what it says: a build that has most bugs ironed out, and can be any time "promoted" to Final.

Hi. Am running Win7-64 bit Ultimate. Installed the RC 5 version. Seems more bloated, took longer than version 4. I tried installing it with Eset Purefix 1.52. Purefix had no idea RC 5 had been installed. So much for that. At the end of the install, Purefix didn't have the "All Done" like it did in version 4. Instead it said to click Enable to install the product. And, the product was already installed. I had an option to click "cancel" which I did. Then I got the screen with the "enable" button, again.. After that, RC5 ran very flaky. Just closed that screen. Couldn't click on anything after getting the RC5 window up. Kept getting a ding. After rebooting several times and having the same problems my level of aggravation had reached its saturation point :) I uninstalled 5 and put 4 back on. So much for RC 5.

Same here, lots of sh*t with this version, after the beta was quite good really. Tried upgrading and a clean install, but still had problems connecting to the WWW or with my system starting normally more than once.

This might be a conflict with the Comodo firewall I use too, but Windows Updates are also failing for some Nod32 v5 users.

Uninstalled maybe five times and now back on Nod32 v4. For me this "RC" is unusable. Windows 7 SP1 x64 btw...

Here ( WinXP Pro SP3 - 32bits ) with ESS 5.0.84 RC can`t install Windows Updates ( 2 of 10 files) :

= Security Update for Windows XP (KB2476490)

= Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB2530548)

and probably a new version will come out very soon because of this bug.

So better to install in 1st place Microsoft Windows Critical Updates and only then install ESS 5.0.84.0 RC.

All the rest seems fine....

Also don`t like HIPS because of those boring messages ( Allow / Deny ) so, its disabled.

Using ESS with TNOD User & Password Finder 1..4.1 beta 2 and updates of virus sign database are normal.

I see in previous posts that some of you had problems with nod5 RC . For me it`s working faster that v.4.2.71 and without any problems at all !

On this laptop I`m writing now I am using nod32 v.5.0.84 RC with latest version of Comodo Firewall - and a hour a go I just updated (Win.7 Ultimate) with no issues .

After a few hours the problems appeared also here - I can`t acces Services ( Start -> Run -> services.msc -> ok ) . The Services window is incomplete . :(

And the patch that I use for vers.4.0 and did worked also for 5.0.65 beta didn`t work for the RC version :frusty: It was asking me to activate ... activate ...

In the end I uninstalled nod32 ...

Maybe it would be a better idea to restore comp. to an earlier image (Acronis) to solve this way the problems that 5.0.84 RC created :frusty:
