CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware!

Thanks to thylacine for the update.

Bah, I hate how they wait a year to post the Slim builds now. It's like they're trying to force their shitty adware down everyone's throat. Greedy bastards.

Maybe I should start making CCleaner Lite, so people don't have to wait forever on the Slim build?

@nsane: The normal versions don't contain toolbar anymore, atleast at the time of release.

If you have time... I bet it would make them pretty unhappy and they'd moan about even the free apps coming under attack from pirates if they would find out.

One thing to note: if you install CCleaner without the adware, then on updating (from "standard" ad-containing setups), it doesn't try to install any adware anymore. At least this is what I found on two computers...

@DKT: You sure? Not even if you do a clean install?

Not sure if it would be approved for listing, but I like the idea :)

Not sure about the clean install, but opening the installer in 7-zip shows nothing that gives any hints of such.

Then what the heck is the Slim version for...

Dunno. :P It has been the same from many builds now. Maybe they don't offer a toolbar at the time of release, some time later...

best method to get a guaranteed clean install is to install the regular version on a virtual machine, just grab the ccleaner.exe from there and put in your PC's ccleaner folder (if you have a prior installed version). the executable is the only file needed (unless your windows is a version other than english in which case you need the appropriate file from the lang folder

And... what about just extracting EXE from ZIP package???

I prefer Portable, is there any advantage of normal version???
