Do you think avast pro is better than nod32?

First of all hi to everybody here at NsaneForums !

From my experience nod32 is better than avast! (for the moment) : better heuristics and lower impact on computer - and the latest nod32 5.0.65 (I am using it on one laptop) is really a great product that can improve the way that people will think about Eset products .

But we can expect avast! to improve much in the next period ( ~ 1 year ) as they have the largest base of users worldwide (so they can collect - and analise - malware samples easyer ) and I see that they decided ( finally ) to invest massive in developping and implementing new technology in their products ( remember the great improvement from v.4.8 to v.5.0 ) .

I think that both companies will have to do something about their firewalls - they are almost as bad as the windows firewall - I`m sure that everybody here have seen the matousec`s tests :

Would you consider using eset smart security 5,as your main antivirus.Being in beta stage would it offer less protection than version 4?

I wouldn`t recommend to anyone (except my enemyes) to use Eset Smart Security (any version) - their firewall really sucks ! Look here and you will understand :

You should use nod32 antivirus - and yes I recommend you to use 5.0.65 ( I didn`t have any problems with this version - and for me it`s a GREAT IMPROVEMENT from previous versions) - with really A GOOD FIREWALL - and here choose between Comodo Firewall 5.4.189822 (highly recommended) , Online Armor Free 5.0.0.1097 , Privatefirewall 7.0.24.8 and PC Tools Firewall Plus 7.0.0.123 - all of them free .

And I have seen greater detection rate at 5.0.65 than 4.2.71 version (and more security options) ...

Another sollution could be Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1.3431.520.1248 - but here you have to use it without nod32 ( Outpost`s Suite has realtime antivirus scanner - with VB100 awards! )

If you prefer the paid ones consider :

- Outpost Firewall Pro 7.1.3415.520.1247 (http://www.agnitum.com/dl/OutpostProInstall-exe) (recommended)

- Online Armor Premium 5.0.0.1097 (http://download9.emsisoft.com/OnlineArmorSetup.exe)

- Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 12.0.0.374 ( obviously use it without nod32 )

- Online Solutions Security Suite 1.5.14905.0 (http://www2.online-solutions.ru/en/download_file.php?p=131124)

I think there is no use for a firewall at all...

I just use NOD32 Antivirus, and it always worked reliably, and, what's most important: It won't slow down your system too much!

I have no AV installed on one of my desktop.....firefox browser with some add-on for the past two years.

Did a scan once in a while with Malwarebytes.....so far no problem.

Eset AV is installed on the other two pc.....till today, also no problem except for some false positive.

So I guess its a matter of choice and how you surf.
