Late March, we reported on U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell. She delivered a verdict that would make it easier for copyright holders to send cash demands to people they suspect of copyright infringement.

It tuned out that Howell was a former RIAA lobbyist and Managing Director of an anti-piracy company, prompting accusations of a conflict of interest.

Just days later it was revealed that Maria Martin-Prat, who was formerly employed as Director of Legal Policy and Regulatory Affairs at the IFPI, had been selected to lead the EU unit that deals with copyright and enforcement issues.
