In what seems to be a never ending stream of leaks, elements of the Metro UI for Windows 8 have also now surfaced on the Internet. The image shows the specific style that will be included in at least one theme for Windows 8.

The image, courtesy of mswin.me, shows the back, forward, close, minimize, expand, help, and several other images that Microsoft will incorporate into, most likely, the 'Aero Lite' theme that Neowin reported yesterday. This image helps to confirm that Microsoft will be using the Metro design language in Windows 8 in at least one theme, if not more.

This theme is expected to be used by users whose computers do not have the specs to run a dynamic interface. Microsoft knows that Windows 8 will be used on older hardware and wants to maintain its Metro design language across all themes that end users might use. It is not known at this time if there will be the 'classic' option theme in Windows 8.

Windows 8 language explorer screen shot leaks

YjUKs.jpg

The leaks from Microsoft continue on as another shot of Windows 8 has landed on the Internet. This time there is an image showing the new language explorer feature that will be included in the next version of Windows.

This latest image comes courtesy of Canouna and shows that you can now sort languages by name, region, or writing system. Although this image is new, this feature has been in the builds of Windows 8 all the way back to M1. It would appear that Microsoft is going to support more languages out of the box rather than having to download languages updates like in Windows 7. But, the additional languages could be included in these early builds for testing purposes only and may not ship with the final product.

This latest leak adds one more small update to the others that we have already seen including an updated taskbar and a new 'Aero Lite' theme. Microsoft is expected to ship Windows 8 sometime during 2012 with another rumor suggesting retail availability in early January 2013.

I don't put any faith into leaked screenshots anymore since I saw a "leaked" screen shot of Windows 7 weeks before is was available.... They had a totally bogus date on the screenshot, and it had looked nothing like the beta versions of Win7 that I had been using for months before hand.

Someones really crappy photoshop abilities coming through or a kid trying to impress his school friends by saying he had prior access to the OS.

My comments about the screenshot might still be in the nsane histories if they keep records that far back.

Windows 8 'Aero Lite' screenshots surface

It has been a big week in the world of Windows 8. Among the many new screenshots comes the first clear look at the new theme, 'Aero Lite'.

This latest information comes courtesy of winreview.ru and only show modest updates. It looks like the theme may still be a work in process, as is the entire OS, but you can see a few of the elements we posted previously showing up in the new theme.

It is believed that this theme will be for lower end hardware as it is expected that there will also by a dynamic theme as well. For those with older hardware, this should come as a good sign that you will be getting a new theme too.

The 'Metro' design language is more apparent in these images as they appear more flat and less glossy from previous themes in Windows. While not much else is revealed, we can also see another look at the new taskbar as well. The image in the bottom right shows the user who is logged in and ties directly to their Windows Live ID.

Windows 8 is expected to RTM in 2012 with the latest rumor suggesting an early January 2013 retail availability.
