There have been quite a few high profile leaks over the past few days for Microsoft. First a new shot of Windows 8 leaked out, and now Office 15 images have hit the web. This leak comes courtesy of sp3cialis5t on Twitter.

The images show a slightly updated ribbon interface but does not include much of the 'Metro' interface that Microsoft is currently using across some of its products. Although they do appear more flat than the previous version which does align with the Metro styling. It is expected that Microsoft will carry the 'Metro' theme across most of its products including Windows 8.

Microsoft Office has become the staple product for productivity. While others have tried to nudge into Microsoft's territory, few have been able to make a dent in the marketplace. One of Microsoft's largest competitors is OpenOffice.org, despite being free, has yet to attract the attention of more than a handful of companies and government organizations.

Wonder if Metro Design in many future Windows products means no more Aero Glass.

I wonder... In the year 2200 will we have Office 317? I mean at some point they will have to give it a different name, don't you think?

Shought, I LOVE how you just came out of left field with that MS Office naming convention thought. Hilarious! I needed that laugh! ^_^

Microsoft Office 15 gets reviewed, 20 pictures leak

PCJAE.jpg

What started out as a small leak for Office 15 has turned into a full blown review. Office 15 is the next version of the popular Office suite that many businesses and consumers use everyday.

Winreview.ru has gotten its hands on a copy of Office 15 and has taken a long look at what the platform has to offer so far. Despite being an early build, the reviewer states that it is rather impressive; the build number for this leak is 15.0.2703.1000.

While there is not a drastic difference in appearance, there are small updates that the reviewer points out. Things such as dynamic interfaces, small updates to align more with the Metro stlye, and that it is being built on NET Framework 4. The reviewer also likes the updates to Outlook and notes that there are new transitions in PowerPoint as well.

Finally the reviewer points out that the product is a good start but is far away from completion. There are still consistency gaps with application transitions and occasional crashes; all which you would expect to find in an early build such as this one.

You can read the entire review here, but it is written in Russian.
