At CeBIT, ESET will offer sneak peek preview of the next generation of its flagship security solutions, ESET Smart Security 5, making the BETA version available for public testing in the first half of 2011. The final version will include features like parental control will help protect children from unsuitable web content, while the improved behavioral analysis technology will actively monitor operating memory for any suspicious behavior.

I like the More "Cloud" infrastructure. This could be a top notch security suite again!

RadioActive

Good to hear they're improving their product line, but it's kinda lame considering that all those features they are still working on have been available in a fair number of competitive products for quite some time.

I kinda prefer a lean solution, if they become bloated with all this hips nonsense and other useless crap I may have to seek an alternative anti-virus to use.

You do realize that signature based protection (solely) is no longer adequate, especially with 0-day threats.

Yes I know but HIPS is useless and retarded, it cannot do anything on its own without either definitions or harassing the user, I see no point in it other than marketing gimmick. I already suggested to ESET since v4 beta that they should start using community based white-listing to make their product more effective but they are idiots. So they will now want to try all this other retarded rubbish when they could just stick with a proven successful model for the current time and reasonable future. The concept is like what Norton started doing and we all know their detection rate and speed is practically unbeatable right now so the model is proven in the industry.
