An abundance of Gmail users woke up today to find that their accounts have been reset; rendering all of their settings, their labels, their themes and addons, and more specifically their emails deleted.

Reports from users have been flooding Google's support forum all day with dozens, perhaps hundreds, of claims that their respective inboxes have been wiped out; users state that they are receiving a "500 server error, code 82" message when they log in but can still receive new messages.

It appears, however, that other Google services, like Docs and Calendar, are working as they should. The following was noted by Patrick Riley, a Gmail user, on Google's support forum:

Also my labels are reset to normal also. nothing (sic) else was affected google docs and calendar still have all my files. But this may have ended my career not being able to access my important emails.

As per usual, countless users have taken to Twitter, also, to express their frustration.

Google has officially acknowledged the situation and has stated that the issue is affecting less that .29% of their users; the company is reportedly working to restore all emails, as well.

Update: Google has revised their estimate of users affected by the error down from .29% to .08%

Some Gmail users are reporting a major problem with Google's email service--specifically, that all of their emails, labels, themes, folders, and other personalized settings have all been erased.

Several Gmail help forums were filled with users who had experienced this problem. Users reported that they were able to receive new messages, but that none of their previous email exchanges were appearing.

Google is aware of the problem and updated their App Status dashboard to acknowledge the issue.

A Google spokesperson told The Huffington Post the company has revised its estimate of the users affected and now believes less than .08% of Gmail users were affected. The spokesperson added, "We've already fixed the problem for some individuals. Our engineers are working as quickly as possible and we hope to have everything back to normal soon. We're very sorry for the inconvenience to our customers."

Hmms, at first i thought it was the issue that iwas having.

As I know for my gmail account, recently happened twice, seems someone has been sending spam/links to a few of my contacts.

Although when cehcking my "Sent" mail, I don't see anything, so it might be someone spoofing my email address.

Changed PW, and hoping it doens't happen again, as I don't want to delete / re-make it (Cnat' think up of a new name =P)
