When booting PC, I got this message:

CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad

The HD didn't appear in the boot device list. I booted the PC from Hiren's boot CD, and then I could boot normally.

What does this mean? Is it the Mobo, BIOS, anything else?

Thanks.

Post us model and number of MOBO and also number /frequency of beeps

So far I think it is only to be BIOS time not being set, but do let us know as what's up

I usually replace the CMOS battery whenever I see an error like that. You could try that since it's easy and cheap, and set the date and the time correctly and see if the error still returns. I'm not saying that's always the case, but it's the easiest thing you could do to isolate the problem.

You could have a faulty device connected to your system. Unplug all externals devices on your computer except for your keyboard and mouse and see if the problem still persists.

Run CHKDSK- http://www.computerh...com/chkdskh.htm on your hard drive that has Windows installed on it.

Also could be your BIOS battery or corruption in your BIOS settings. Boot into your BIOS settings and check your performance monitor if your BIOS has one.

Check your boot device order to make sure that it is setup correctly.

Good luck.:D
