Without doing intensive testing... The cracked .dll file for 5.1.864 (by tonyblair) seems to work for 5.1.889 also. They do have different versions number though...

Had to follow this procedure to be able to copy it over the original (since program did not ask for a reboot after install)

2. In Settings-Troubleshooting uncheck "Enable avast! self-defense module"

3. Terminate avastsvc.exe and avastui.exe in the Task Manager (launch it with pressing CTRL - SHIFT - Esc - let is show all users running processes).

4. Replace the file (ashBase.dll) in C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5 with the cracked file.

Reboot

(Check Enable self-defence afterwards)

Edit: tonyblair will update his crack - so normal users - have some patience :)

Edit2: Listing has been updated with an updated crack. Thanks tonyblair :)

Thank god they have solved gameguard compatibility. I was gonna leave Avast if they didn't solve it.

Hiya!!

I downloaded this crack at the Pirate Bay (which works with version 5.1.889): and i installed it and it works 100%, it might be the same crack which Tony already submitted here on this site...

Here's a confirmation screenshot where you can see it works with version 5.1.889:

  • 5 weeks later...

Need help guys.

I installed avast pro 5.1.899 from avast site. --> disabled self defense --> killed avastsvc.exe and avastui.exe ---> copied cracked dll to install dir --> restarted ----> 9999 demo ----> reenabled self defense

But then avast dectected ashbase.dll after sometime and automatically sent it to quarantine.

more over update definition would get downloaded but wont install.

Using win 7

tried this at another pc setup still fail.

you should make a trial reset for avast or setupcatcher like esetpurefix for avast. if possible.

you should exclude it...remove the dll from quarantine

put the crack back where it supposed to be then it would fine

for the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):

Left click the 'a' blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.

Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button...

For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):

Right click the 'a' blue icon, click Program Settings.

Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button...
