Night Owl
@ heath28m: I know what you mean. I wait a couple of days before updating many programs, and then when I do, there always seems to be a new version the very next morning. :doh:PerfectDisk is really good. As KotaXor told us earlier, he really likes UltimateDefrag, Diskeeper, and lastly PerfectDisk (in that order), but finds that PerfectDisk actually performs the best. His PC boots 12 seconds faster with PerfectDisk 11 than with UltimateDefrag 3.
HX1
Those and O&O is what I have in archive.. I did have the complete O&O Suite of all apps at one point... I liked them because of the program styling and UI... I never quite got to try them all though..

hannubys
The built in defragmentation tool in Windows 7 is good as OO Defrag, Diskeeper and Perfectdisk. If you use Windows 7 you don't really need third party software.

fagoatse
Performance difference varies between 0.1-1% seriously, all of them are based upon windows' defragging api. They work in exactly the same way. Moreover, some of those defraggers do more harm than good. The only solution to slow HDD's are SSD's. I use defraggler from piriform coz of it's speed(x64 bit), nice UI and boot defrag(imo the only useful option in 3rd party defrags) but I defragment my games using contig - the most powerful defragging tool out there, though it's gui-less but you could get a front-end called power-defrag or w/e it's called.NTFS is a rubbish file system though....hope win 8 introduces ext 4 that needs to be defragged like once a year or something. Administrator DKT27 Posted December 4, 2010 Administrator Share Posted December 4, 2010 There's a huge difference between Windows Defrag and all the three third party defrag apps. Windows defrag will only defrag the files with consolidate method by stacking things together and respect the layout. Whereas, the third party defrags are far more advanced than it. You will see almost 150% or more of performance and HDD life increase with those apps.Though, it's true that NTFS file system sucks, something better needs to be adapted.
