Yeah, MirandaIM is a great application.. sort of like the Firefox of messengers... I even have a portable webserver running out of mine... with authentication! :huh: and FTP Capability.. because the programs portable so is the server.. I still keep the main programs installed though... rarely technically use them.. but I have almost started using the new Live 15.0 more often.. just like the way it looks.. ( with the ads removed ).. LOL

I haven't ever used Pidgin.. but I thought that the only difference in Pidgin was that it was IRC based.. regardless MirandaIM can do IRC Chat easy... I really do love MirandaIM though... it can take ALL of everything.. and customize it.. under one program, ALL protocols.. with extensions and addons to add/mod functionality

ok guys how do u set it up like msn??

I want the chat window to put a tab on the bottom bar when some1 speaks (instead of the box on the tray icon)

i cant seem to see anything in the options - or im blind..

You have to click on the notification box.. and then it should either open a window or add the tab to the a pre-existing open window. Which Chat Windows plugin are you using SRMM, or TABSRMM?

EDIT: It should also take all chat windows no matter which protocol.. and you should look in the ' Message Sessions ' section, ' Tabs and layout ' Tab..

I would look at those two. I am using TABSRMM plugin however.. so a few things my be different if your using something else.. and don't forget that other settings could interfere with these settings as well.. so it may be a witch hunt.. but should be easily done..

hi heath i am using the plugins gained from normal install - this is my first install of MirandaIM.

ive not tried to add anything else. everything in the plugins screen is ticked. i do see the srmm send/receive.

in message sessions i dnt see no tabs layout tab ?

It happens..LOL..

Okay.. this is what you want to do..

1. Download this addon from Miranda-IM.org..

TABSRMM 2.2.1.21

.

2. Navigate to ' C:\Program Files\Miranda IM\Plugins\ '

3. Extract contents of the file here.. ( you may have to backup a directory.. should have instructions )

4. Close Miranda, and Restart it.

5. Open ' Options', Go to 'Plugins'..

6. De-select SRMM, and select 'TabSRMM'

7. Apply, and restart Miranda IM.

8. Look to see if now you have the desired settings.. and configure accordingly..

This should give you a more robust Chat Window, that will allow Group Chats and according to how you configure it, can operate as a single chat window, or however you wish to adjust the Container.. I think you will be happy with... :thumbsup: IF not, you can switch it back to SRMM and look for another option..

They serve me well, and for the most part I have more option than I can handle.. LOL...as well as the ability to expand..

EDIT: IF you have problems with the ver.2 I will have to look for the version I have installed.. Just noticed it being ver.3....

ok i downloaded the plugin from your post - it tells me that i need 0.8 miranda whereas the latest version is 0.9.

hehe - ill shoot around and see if i can find an updated plugin.

ive clciked something within the standed options and its now opening each window on the bottom bar (i dnt know what ive clicked lol)

I have found it.. It is actually supposed to be linked on the main download page but something has went wrong.. it is still listed.. but it takes a minute.. especially when all of it is the same and they make no mention of it..

Contributor Pack - Open up and drop the folders into the Miranda Im Programs Directory.. where you have matching folders.. :thumbsup: You also get a couple of addons which are also contributed to the Miranda Project for Modern skins.. and another one for Clist Nicer.. great addons..

EDIT: I will probably need to see what you mean.. its no processing right in my brain or something.. LOL.. Bottom bar of what? Miranda IM.. Taskbar?... Chat Window? I am lost .. the only thing that mine does is I get notifications with an addon I have.. and I can actually reply in the little box itself..

I also recommend getting this to stay up to date on most of the plugins.. WhatsUP.Net

the start menu bar at the bottom on desktop.

messages are now apeering in tabs along the bar instead of a little msg icon on the miranda tray icon.

Edit: I think i ticked the "automaticly popup a window in the background"
