New version makes it easier to create and distribute PDF documents

Adobe is finally shipping the latest version of its Acrobat tool for creating PDFs, designed to boost productivity with an overhauled user interface that makes functions easier to access.

Announced last month, Acrobat X also adds Actions, multi-step automated guides that can be defined to walk users through complex processes, such as stripping out sensitive metadata in order prepare a document for public release.

The tool is now available through Adobe authorised resellers, the Adobe Store and Adobe Direct Sales. The free-to-download Adobe Reader X is expected to be available by the end of the month.

Acrobat X is available in Standard and Pro versions for Windows, the chief difference being the ability to create PDF Portfolio files in Pro.

The Standard version costs £278 (£132 upgrade), while the Pro versions is £444 (£190 upgrade).

Education pricing is available through the Adobe Education Store.
