i never really bothered with KIS..my net always quit working after installing it and i didn't bother to dig any further why it did so..

Got an activation error. Says my Key is already in use. When i checked it out on KIS website i noticed it says,

It is impossible to change the interface language in Japanese, Chinese and English versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 / Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. In this case, in order to migrate from Japanese and Chinese versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 / Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, you are required to purchase a license via E-Store.

After it's activated, can it be used on a completely english install or possibly other version (11.0.2.556 hint hint)?

edit: how did u get the language changed w/o screwing up the app? after I changed those two entries it reports it needs to be reinstalled and that the license is not active.

Sorry to tell you this dear, but they didn't get the language changed. No one has done so. The poster above posted information erroneously without testing or checking -irresponsably. If you want to enjoy that license you will need to get accustomed to Chinese. Since I can't differentiate Chinese from Martian, I will continue with my English version and some trial resetter! But you are free to do what you want of course. The only thing that may happen here- I fear- is that many members will be angry after a while. But some refused to listened ! -_-

it also shows up on mykaspersky as chinese edition and the faq at kaspersky states you can't change chinese or japanese versions' language.

and i had sidebar crashing as well (not that it's a sidebar anyway in win7, but gadgets, anyhow sidebar.exe) probably 'cos of the chinese all around.

Hi, guys.

It is not that tough to get the free license & use it.

In that website u have to manually type email address to get valid license.

DON"T copy paste.

To activate it, just follow the steps given in the page itself & install with license.

Then also update. the update icon is globe.

After that u have to disable self defense, i understand its in Chinese or just square box.

look for the 4th icon on top left a light brown box, click it & in it u see many icons below it on left.

1st is a tick mark in green, & 2nd is "K"- clcik this, it will show 2 options in right side.

1st is self defense, remove tick, so self defense disabled.

click apply, it the bottom right corner. & ok(3 boxes "ok, cancel, apply") use common sense.

u can now see the KIS from green changed to yellow.

Restart & go to registry regedit.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\protected\AVP11\environment

here u need to change 2 values.

Ins_Localization to en from whatever it is cn, or sn_hans......

Localization to en from whatever it iscn or sn hans..

close regedit. Restart.

now u can see in english.

clk fix it.

done.

Now, if u want to activate other license u have,

Open KIS, u will see 366 days in bottom right corner.

click it , it will show ur license with a red "X".

click RED X, will delete that licnese.

Then activate with another license......

I am sorry dear, but you will have to provide screenshots to be believed. At least I am not willing to try that myself. I read somewhere someone trying to do the same and failing in the attempt. For me it would be a waste of time, so unless we have real evidence that is possible - NO WAY -_- (Not me!!!) I am very happy with my English version and my recently tested resetter , see here - working perfectly! :dance2:
