Chad Hurley revealed his intention to leave the role of chief executive at the F.ounders conference in Ireland. Hurley will continue to operate with the company in an advisory role. "Right now I am in the process of transitioning into the role of adviser, stepping down, still being involved in the company, but it's given me an opportunity to work on new projects," Hurley was quoted as saying by the Guardian. Hurley was one of three co-founders of YouTube when he launched the site with Steve Chen and Jawed Karim. When YouTube was purchased by Google in 2006 for $1.65bn, Hurley stayed with the site as its chief executive. More recently, Hurley co-founded clothing and accessory company, Hlaska. Google executive Salar Kamangar has been named as Hurley's replacement. Kamangar had served as vice president of web applications for Google and was among the team that launched the AdWords platform.
