EDIT: Fixed it by trading out the first FTP for HTTP...

SpeedyFox should do nothing more than access you user profile for Firefox.. inside that are several files that act as databases.. and files which have entries.. SpeedyFox is supposed to basically clean them up.. and remove dead entries.. makig them smaller and access to desired and most used information quicker..

Make sure what your using is from Crystallidea.. and comes directly from their site and is the most up to date version.. anything else is something else.. and should not have any effect on your modem... something else is going on there.. It is also not an addon or extension .. and Firefox has to be closed while you run it.. it should be an EXE file or program..

heath28m I downloaded the EXE from here. on the front page so i know its 100% clean.

But the thing is after running the program it killed my internet on 2 laptops (unsure why).

Had nothing else running as I was just updating the latest firefox, It sounds weird i know. I cant understand why it knocked me off as for as i knew it didnt affect anything but firefox profiles.

evrything back working now - im not running it again lol i might not come back lol

Speedyfox shouldn't harm your internet connection in anyway.

@heath28m: I'm getting a feeling that CCleaner > Applications > Firefox > Compact Database should do a similar job. Can you help me confirm it?

DK - I actually don't have CCleaner.. but from what I remember in the past.. it seemed so.. I never really like CC to be honest.. WinASO was always better at it.. and with less problems.. but that just personal experience on the systems I have used or worked on thus far... but I think it did the same thing..

Sonar - When you say it knocked you offline... do you mean the browsers themselves.. would not connect or Windows actively told you that there was no Internet Connection..

EDIT: Just thinking out loud here but have you done system scans lately with HiJack This!.. for toolbars and extra stuff... and scanned your system.. Some infections are quite devout on some things and odd things can occur.. I would definitely comb through my system and make sure there are not any rogue Toolbars in the drivers area in the list.. odd files hanging around and do a couple of through registry and other scans.. just to be sure.. Something isn't right.. I feel it needs to be looked into.. Personally..

@heath28m - It did something with my internet connection I had to reboot my modem to get any connection.

I got 2 laptops connected both through cable not wireless. the other one was turned off. this one was on just updating from nsane front page, everything went fine with the firefox install and then working fine browsing here again to get the addon. but unsure why after running speedyfox my whole connection from the modem went on drugs.

chrome or ie wouldnt work so i checked out the modem.

straight after running speedyfox I lost connection. my modem ready light wouldn't "ready up" (virgin media).

Ide put it down to something else but i had nothing running apart from speedyfox. its weird but im not trying it again lol

I dunno.. seems very odd indeed.. BUT.. you know remembering back I have seen a few things go crazy with Internet connections and programs in the past.. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that its a modem.. or protections you have in place may have picked up on some action.. as being an attack.. Sort of like when ESET used to pick up sending packets to my DNS Server as an ARP Attack and disconnect me.. without notice.. ( happened before I realized some of the new features... LOL.. took me a minute.. ) Is very strange though.. sure there is an explanation..
