masterripper
Do you really mean that cooldude7273? Anyways, about the story, i aint using Vista.... yet, im using XP until all or atleast most of the problems have been fixed in Vista, then ill switch, as a matter of fact i have Vista OEM edition right now, im just not using it yet because im waiting til i feel its time (atleast til SP1 comes out which is supposedly next month), but what i really dont like (and the posted story shows it) is MS trying to shove Vista down our throats by ending XP next year, that just pisses me off, ill switch to Vista when i am good and ready, not because MS has decided to end support on XP as a marketing ploy to make more money by forcing ppl to switch to Vista. cooldude7273
I do mean it.Ending XP is a good idea. Think about it. First of all, XP would have been out for 7 years, can you name another commercial OS that is supported for 7 years? It's also good to end selling it because that then means that the Windows team can focus more on Vista, thus further improving that OS.Oh, and SP1 is not coming out next month. masterripper
Oh, and SP1 is not coming out next month.read and weep, SP1, as you can see you can grab all the hotfixes right now and install them, only problem is that you need to d/l them individually, have an account, and you have to create .bat files to install the hotfixes, also if you look at a certain popular private torrent site, there is a torrent that contains all those hotfixes, and it is all setup for you, all you have to do is run the bat file, oh and it was said that next month, the hotfixes listed at that site as well as a few more, will be bundled together, and distributed as sp1, but it dont matter to me, i aint using vista yet.all you need is good 3rd party software.Your right, thats why i use Sandboxie, i no longer need an anti-virus, anti-spyware, or firewall, or any other security software, and i can not just use sandboxie for security and privacy, but even to see exactly what programs are doing. :)

Thruba
What this article is saying is that Microsoft will stop issuing new licenses for WinXp, they will not cease support for it. Support for WinXp is due to last till about 2012. So, I don't see what's wrong with that? It's like when WinXp was out, they should be still selling Win98 or Millenium. It just doesn't make sense... Q Can Fix IT
I've read that vista doesn't let you use a driver that has not been signed even if it works, the device supposedly gets crippled by vista to reduce performance. we need a way to "sign" a driver we know is good, not everyone can afford to be extorted for signature fees. cooldude7273
Oh, and SP1 is not coming out next month.read and weep, SP1Ooohhh.. don't get me started on this shit.THAT is NOT SP1 at ALL!That is some person who downloaded all the hotfixes from Microsoft, including the ones not released, and slapped a SP1 name on it and gave it up for download. Microsoft and the Windows Vista team have condemned this! If you truly call and think that that is a real service pack, then yes, it's out.If you want what Microsoft makes and calls SP1, with all of the stability testing and EVERYTHING that you would expect from a REAL RELIABLE SP, then you will be waiting awhile yet.I have a passion, I know what I'm talking about.
