nsane.forums
Republicans kill bill to ensure level playing field A proposed bill to ensure net neutrality on internet access has been killed after a lack of support from US republicans. The bill, proposed by the chairman of the House Energy & Commerce committee Henry Waxman, would have handed regulation of the internet to the FCC (which has already stated net neutrality as a goal), curbed paid preferred access by ISPs, stopped mobile internet providers from blocking sites and ensured that broadband providers were transparent in their dealings with customers. This legislative initiative was predicated on going forward only if we had full bipartisan support in our Committee. We included the Republican staff in our deliberations and made clear that we were prepared to introduce our compromise legislation if we received the backing of Ranking Member Barton and Ranking Member Stearns,†said Waxman in a statement With great regret, I must report that Ranking Member Barton has informed me that support for this legislation will not be forthcoming at this time.†Joe Barton, ranking member of the Energy and Commerce Committee, said that his party would be blocking the legislation because its introduction had been too rushed and it could harm job creation. It is not appropriate to give the FCC authority to regulate the internet,†he said. This is not a solution for the future of the Internet. America should be about preserving the vibrant and competitive free market that exists for the Internet and other interactive computer services, unfettered by federal or state regulation. The news has been greeted with dismay by net neutrality advocates. Mr. Waxman's bill would have created an important safety net to prevent the broadband Internet access landscape from being Balkanized by anti-competitive pay walls and discriminatory technology barriers that block or degrade communications, said Dr. Mark Cooper, director of Research for the Consumer Federation of America (CFA). We hope that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will now move aggressively to re-establish jurisdiction to implement all of the public interest principles of the Communications Act that have served the nation well for more than three quarters of a century.â View: Original Article

HX1
I honestly time and time again.. am lead to believe that Republicans are scared shitless that something good is going to happen under a Democracy.. If thats not corrupt in their actions I don't know what would be.. the actual goal of leading a nation and making the best decisions.. which are based upon the ideals of the people in it and by the people in it.. are no longer there.. I wonder some days if I still live in the USA or some twisted deception of it still being what it is supposed to be.. While underneath... ..... Just a point that true focus and objectives of running this country go out the window... and everything else winds up in its place.. I mean do these guys even have the mental faculties left to do their jobs?I wonder sometimes.. and truth of the matter is that I should not.. I really believe that the country should be formed for itself.. not itself and all the other crap out here... there should be lines drawn .. that should never be crossed.. HX1
Okay so do you want it censored by the government and under their motivated discretion or with the FCC..? or neither.. One way or the other someone is going to 'sell' the internet control out.. to one thing or the other.. again just like the 2004 election.. we are left having to only choose between two evils... There truthfully should be other options all together.. it shouldn't be so in the box..The FCC in my opinion can only govern certain areas.. ( I would hope ) and give neutrality from the government.. and corporations.. keeping it free for everyone.. was my viewpoint.. but maybe I missed some facts in there or somewhere.. HX1
Well I never said that all democrats have in mind what I see as a way to go.. By no means.. While yes I did mention it here.. as Republicans being the butt plug of humanity... I was referring to countless items I have watched.. and objection.. rejections... over and over..wut r rinos? DMCA.. missed something I guess..On that note I would say its all crap... Upgrade the wire to FibreOptic.. and shut up... I mean really traffic shaping.. WTF is that going to do? :think:People need some knowledge of a computer and skills - and if they retort they are not mechanically inclined.. they either get that way and take the initiative or have their place nullified and position removed.. It would seem to me that in all terms of real progress without stagnating something so it can be fed from like leeches.. that the real effort would be to make it as efficient and as powerful as possible.. and an affordable everyday utility .. Like water and electricity.. ( cable is dead so don't even mention it ) but its what I am looking at.. It would seem the way you explained it that it is simple price scalping... monopolization... and almost communistic..Definitely wrong to have ever called it Net Neutrality.. and I think it should be brought to peoples attention.. in case it ever rears its ugly head again...Hating getting out of the loop.. :( Could have really failed this time around..
