Internet Explorer 9 Beta 1 doesn't work well with Nsane (and other sites) so it has to go!

How to Uninstall Internet Explorer 9

uninstall-ie9.jpg

Maybe you've seen enough of the Internet Explorer 9 beta for now -- you just wanted a taste, but you'd rather not use a beta browser on a day-to-day basis. Maybe you just want to know how to uninstall it because other people are going to ask you how to do it. Unlike most other programs on your computer, however, you won't find IE9 listed on the Uninstall or change a program screen.

That's because Internet Explorer 9 installs as a Windows update. Here's what you need to do to uninstall IE9 on Windows Vista or Windows 7:

1. click your windows button and type view updates in the search box

2. once the results appear, click view installed updates

Don't want to search? Press Win+R and paste in the following:

C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{d450a8a1-9568-45c7-9c0e-b4f9fb4537bd}

then press enter.

3. wait for the Uninstall an update screen to load completely

4. scroll through the list until you find Windows Internet Explorer 9

5. click once to highlight IE9, then click the uninstall button (or right-click and uninstall)

6. confirm that you want to uninstall (click yes)

huh??? IE9 doesn't work well with nsane?????

I guess I am dense, so could someone please explain this to me how so?

I can click links, go to downloads, download files, I can get on the forums (obviously) and post(double duh!)

The only thing I have noticed I can't do I lord I am NOT complaining about it, is post stuff in facebook. When I click to post a comment inside of an applications it takes me back to the application without attempting to post what it asks.

It runs the flash games better (with the updated flash squared beta), I haven't tried the java too much so I can't say yea or ney to that. The open blank tab shows me which websites I've been spending way too much time on. I don't see why all the hate for IE9

When I commented on someone's status, IE 9 Beta 1 would post my comment and then throw me into my profile for some odd reason. When I went back to the nsane.forums frontpage, my comment was posted twice. :o When I tried to delete my duplicate, IE9 just couldn't do it — I had to switch to another browser to delete my duplicate. This happened a few times and was 100% reproducible.

And at my library, IE 9 Beta 1 was almost useless. IE9 wouldn't show the status of my requests to renew items. IE9 also couldn't show the availability of items as well. All other browsers — Firefox 3.6.10, Google Chrome 7.0.517.8 Dev, Apple Safari 5.0.2, and even Internet Explorer 8  — all work perfectly.

LOL? this tells me your a noob. since you don know about your uninstaller. it's much faster way than the 6 steps above and it's much cleaner.

we are in 2010 with Windows 7, not 1998 so follow the trend of software.

Actually.. I think that would come down to personal preference in how we use our systems.. not really about how advanced we are in use.. We all have different ways of doing things.. Some prefer not to do it all the same way.. Regardless of opinion... I know I made my decision after using about three or four uninstallers... The closest thing I use is the Microsoft Install Cleanup.. about it..

I just totally got the irony.. especially after having several uninstallers cause issues in my system.. even removing entries that did not belong to certain programs.. and parts of other programs.. I always rely on the program uninstallers... that come with it.. and the rest that may be left behind.. which is rare with a poorly written/packaged program... I use my knowledge itself do the work and thoroughly and I know exactly what it is going to do...so in all of it there can be down sides to both sides of the equation.. Even within several applications for Optimizing I have several I could use... but don't.. because of the previous...

EDIT: Nothing will ever change my mind about the decision...

Tbh I was simply saying, why install a piece of software to un-install another piece of software, I fail to see how THAT makes sense. Granted it is quicker, BUT still pointless. As for being a N00b, I've been using windows since before 3.11 for workgroups. (Good ol' days of copying a folder into itself.), which btw I stopped using last night thanks to your post. I'm now on Window s ME.. (the irony)..

last post from me to you, YourUninstaller cleans faster and cleaner if you know about it; clearly you do not. yes uninstalling Internet G** Explorer by the steps above is good nothing is wrong with that. The point of using a awesome piece of software to uninstall TONs of other pieces of software (on the future not just IE) is very useful. too bad you haven't researach YU before you your reply saying your old enough to use 3.11 for workgroups; good for you.

God bless North America for MAC, Windows, and freewares like Firefox. <3

@Night Owl: Thanks for the info.

@Dodel: Good ol' Windows 3.1. When right-click wasn't invented yet and configuring to connect to the internet was a pain. :D

Lemme butt in, assuming a computer doesn't have your uninstaller, what takes fewer clicks and less time, downloading and installing Your uninstaller, then uninstalling IE9 afterwards, or uninstalling IE9 from the instructions from the first post?

if you have already the app "your uninstaller" like me then use it. if you dont and you dont have the time to downloading it then use the method that Night Owl had given... besides its better to have your uninstaller rather than add/remove by windows.

What makes Your uninstaller's method better than the uninstall method from removing IE9 from the Programs and Features? Still wondering though.

I think with some programs that leave behind remnants.. or have difficulty uninstalling.. Some people like to use programs like this because they will remove the things that poorly written scripts inside the uninstallers do not do.. and people that uninstall/install a lot of software can prefer it as well... Usually for me if a software maker cannot properly write the uninstaller it fails.... and I have already been through my software assessments for what I do.. so not a lot of testing going on.. its unnecessary.. The registry cleaner that I use to maintain my system actually takes care of most of it... that some can leave behind including entries for shortcuts and files.. I also always go through the proper steps to make sure no files from said programs are being used beforehand.. and any files I have modified that an uninstaller will not remove.. I do by hand.. which narrows it down .. being that that's rare as well with most..
