nsane.forums
Microsoft's hardware-accelerated Internet Explorer 9 may be dominating the headlines this week, but Chrome isn't waiting around for the dust to settle. Not only did Google release a slew of patches affecting various vulnerabilities in the current version of the browser on Tuesday, but it also announced that new GPU acceleration advances in the upcoming version 7 are achieving speeds 60 times faster than in version 6. Chrome has traditionally been considered the browser to beat when it comes to speed. "This system picks the best graphics API to use on each OS that Chromium supports: Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS and Linux," Google software engineers James Robinson and Gregg Tavares wrote on the Chromium Blog. "These early numbers show up to 60x speed improvement over the current version of Google Chrome," they added. "With Google Chrome's fast release cycles, we expect to be able to get these enhancements to users quickly and add new performance improvements over time." The latest beta version of Mozilla's Firefox 4 also uses hardware acceleration for faster speeds. 3D Graphics In addition to rapid advances in Chrome's 2D graphics performance, however, Google is also working on 3D graphics capabilities. "We're excited to give developers fast 2D graphics, but we think truly hardware accelerating graphics on the Web means giving developers access to a programmable 3D graphics pipeline with WebGL," Robinson and Tavares explained. "With WebGL and 3D CSS, developers can create modern games, impressive photo galleries, 3D data visualizations, virtual environments, and whatever else they can dream up." A video on YouTube demonstrates Chrome's upcoming 3D capabilities in action. A developer version of Chrome 7 is now available, with a stable release expected later this fall. 10 Security Patches The 10 security patches Google released this week for Chrome 6, meanwhile, addressed one critical flaw in the Mac version along with six considered high-priority, including one unique to the Linux version. Three vulnerabilities were considered low-priority. Through the Chromium Security Research Program, Google offers users, developers and researchers bounties of up to $3,133 for reporting a single bug. This time, Google handed out six $500 awards and one worth $1,000. The resulting version--Google Chrome 6.0.472.59--has now been released to the Stable and Beta channels for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Smoore
How much faster can they get? Isn't speed based on your internet provider and not your browser? The huge speed promises worry me on as to how they are achieved. Data compression, lower resolution rendering, maybe precaching THE INTERNET! Ambrocious
Google is planning on taking over the world in sorts...Google Plans To Kill Web In Internet Takeover AgendaFrom Infowars.comThe net-neutrality ending deal with Verizon is just the beginning of Google’s plans to kill the open and free Internet as part of their takeover agenda to completely control the world wide web and force independent media websites, radio and TV shows out of existence for good.Google’s agreement with Verizon to speed certain Internet content to users opens the door to the complete sterilization of the world wide web as a force for political change. Under Google’s takeover plan, the Internet will closely resemble cable TV, independent voices will be silenced and the entire Internet will be bought up by transnational media giants.People who want to run a simple blog will be priced out of existence, online TV and radio shows will cease to exist as the Internet is swallowed up by the corporate borg.True net neutrality means that independent news outlets who attract an audience by telling the truth can compete on an even keel with corporate giants like ABC, CBS and CNN. The Google-Verizon pact will end that level playing field and in turn eliminate everything that is outside of the mainstream.“A non-neutral Internet means that companies like AT&T, Comcast, Verizon and Google can turn the Net into cable TV and pick winners and losers online,” writes Josh Silver. “A problem just for Internet geeks? You wish. All video, radio, phone and other services will soon be delivered through an Internet connection. Ending Net Neutrality would end the revolutionary potential that any website can act as a television or radio network. It would spell the end of our opportunity to wrest access and distribution of media content away from the handful of massive media corporations that currently control the television and radio dial.”The deal will also split the Internet into a two-tier system, a cyber toll road, where satisfactory speeds and service will only be obtainable by those willing to pay substantial fees. The pact also gives Google and huge ISPs the leeway to block certain websites on wireless networks, meaning Prison Planet and Infowars will ‘go dark’ for millions of people.Once Google’s fiercest critics have been silenced for good the company can then set about implementing its CIA-backed total information awareness program, which will scour Twitter accounts, blogs and websites for all sorts of information left by individual users, aiming to use this data to “predict the future” and completely direct and control people’s lives and behavior.Google CEO Eric Schmidt has announced that Google, in conjunction with the CIA, is set to become the ultimate Big Brother entity that “will know so much about its users that the search engine will be able to help them plan their lives” by constantly tracking their location via smart phones and telling them where to go and what to do.Fresh food that lasts from eFoods Direct (Ad)We have previously reported on Google’s intimate and long standing connections to government spy networks. There is also no doubt that Google is one of the corporations at the forefront of the government’s drive to use cybersecurity as a pretext for killing the free Internet, having previously worked with the NSA and the CIA.The recent scandal involving the company’s street view roaming vehicles accessing the wi-fi details of internet users and mapping their online activities has also raised serious questions over intelligence links and abuse of privacy laws.Check back soon for quotes and screenshots from an important new video in which Alex Jones breaks down Google’s plan to kill the web and explains why it’s the end of the Internet as we know it unless we stand up now and say no.SOURCE

The huge speed promises worry me on as to how they are achieved. Data compression, lower resolution rendering, maybe precaching THE INTERNET!Those browser speeds that are being talked about is not internet speeds, but on computer speeds, how fast your browser behaves, how better is the video quality, how fast can it do JavaScript actions. Both IE and Google have made their own benchmarking sites that test mostly on what their own browser is best as. Ultimately, I feel they are only fooling the normal users. Either way, Google is surely overrating itself. If they are so good, why not hire all the Firefox addons makers and make to work on Google, or make a compiler?
HX1
Ball dragging contest.. little marks in the sand... all over.. looks like sidewinders and cobras..Really people.. I have my FF just the way I like it.. faster than Chrome.. Thing is when this is implemented by default.. and the database issues.. when is this resolved or rather how.. True that Opera can still outrun it in a few areas.. What I want to see.. is this method.. used in programming other applications.. and fixing a few apps that .. well are just simply undesired in respect to how they operate and the side effects on some systems. I want to see how this will impact the computing community... and what it will bring to the table... for the globe - concerned.. valid relative aspects.. Like yeah.. fixing the Google Updater...I like the fact that they are working in that direction.. good for them.. it is a proud undertaking and achievement if they get it.. but how is this implemented as a company .. as a whole... Blind determination without an ultimate goal relative to the bigger picture.. is just senseless.. misuse... and a shame that it would go to waste if said 'thing' exists.. And why isn't this shared broad scope. because that is the objective.. bragging rights.. biggest drag lines.. in the sand... Thing is if it doesn't do what I need it to.. how I need it to... and still beat whats in existence.. Whats the point unless you will still have to back-peddle and then be surpassed again.. constantly playing catch-up.. Sounds challenging... hmmm... :)

Some might say that this plan closely resembles cable-TV. | (Not sure how these two look alike, but that's what the article states...)True net neutrality means that independent news outlets who attract an audience by telling the truth can compete on an even keel with corporate giants like ABC, CBS and CNN. The Google-Verizon pact might influence this net neutrality which is why we have politics to look after such changes.“A non-neutral Internet means that companies like AT&T, Comcast, Verizon and Google can turn the Net into cable TV and pick winners and losers online,” writes Josh Silver. “A problem just for Internet geeks? This information will obviously allow the CIA to predict the future and control people's lives, don't you think?Google CEO Eric Schmidt announced some new functions which would help users to plan their lives (adaptive searching and stuff like that) and some other people suggested the CIA could make use of this to track you, or something.Google has previously worked with the CIA and the NSA.Apparently there has been some unconfirmed scandal in which Google's Street View cars connected to local WiFi networks.Check back soon to view a video of a delusional media-horny guy who is going to mumble a couple of words and give his opinion, contact your local nutcase for a preview.SOURCEPfff, I can't believe I took the time to do this... toyo
The free Internet as we know it and piracy have a limited time to live. Everything will be on the "cloud" - games, apps, all of it - and not on your home PC hdd. And your PC will not be a PC any more - just a speed connexion to the cloud, which will render your games and run you apps and send them frame by frame to your TV/Monitor. I'm curious though what mouse/keyboard will morph into.In 10-20 years torrenting and p2p will be extinct, and you will pay for everything. Just do your own research, don't take my word for it. mara-
Maybe p2p will extinct but something else will replace it. And, I won't take you word because no matter what any research says, they can't know how the future will look like. Piracy will always exist.Cheers ;)

Administrator DKT27 Posted September 17, 2010 Administrator Share Posted September 17, 2010 There are always two sides of a coin. :PFrom what I'm seeing, not everyone will accept cloud, it's future and will stay here, but doesn't seem likely that 100% people are going to like/use it. Even if it changes, there are always free loving people who can reach any limits. :D

And, I won't take you word because no matter what any research says, they can't know how the future will look like. Piracy will always exist.Cheers ;)I just wanted to make a note here to say that 'Piracy'.. Technically has absolutely nothing to do with P2P...( and I am not trying to be a stickler about it.. ) I see all too many times mentioned all over the net.. that it seems that people understand Piracy.. to be Anything related to sharing files between people who confer with one another, share their music with one another ( like giving your friend a CD to listen to that you bought ).. or even copying a tape... Same warnings and laws have always existed..But true definition of Piracy.. is taking a product that is made to be distributed... ripping it open.. Sticking your branding.. name.. or other on it.. changing even parts of it to operate differently.. and then repackaging.. and distributing it for profit... There is a HUGE difference... between that and copyright infringement.... Especially if you ever are accused.. of any of it.. by anyone..To me its like someone who really doesn't understand a thing about a certain type of person and turning them into a murderer, thief, or sexual predator.. based on the color of their skin.. or their sex.. because they technically are uneducated and lack enough knowledge to even be considered to be involved.. Yet the whole thing gets everyone's attention.. and the crazed stampede of people/angry mobs that follow..Lot of aspects to it... Just a note.. I see that all too many times.. and I think fear.. and ridicule goes quite far outside hose boundaries.. Especially with some who are just itching to get involved in something else.. or be behind busting something like it.. I think that too negatively impacts a lot of things as well.. Even decisions to use the/a P2P based progam under any circumstances with some..

Smoore
Addons are definitely the linch pin right know in the browser wars. Seems everyone can get the speed, but only Mozilla can get the addons platform that users want and in most cases depend on. They will all make excuses as to why they don't need addons or why they are better without. I see numerous post on Opera about how they don't need addons and have all the functionality they provide, B.S.! It sad when such quality products excel in only one area and stubbornly refuse to listen to the target market, US!
toyo
Actually, I think Opera plans to develop it's "Unite" tech even more; there are many programmers doing stuff for it. However, it will take a lot of time to equal the huge amount of Mozilla addons - those had years to grow.http://unite.opera.com/applications/
