Windows hard drive defragmentation software has just taken a giant leap above and beyond any other defragmentation tool on the planet. With the new UltimateDefrag Version 3, you get all of the features of previous UltimateDefrag versions that you've come to find indispensable for defragging and optimizing your hard drive, plus a whole host of new powerful features that give you: 1. Even more power and control in optimizing your hard drive and 2. Clearly perceivable, faster Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 performance due to the hard drive optimization that UltimateDefrag allows.

Thanks to anuraag for the update.

How does it perform?

I really couldn't tell, since my fragmentation degree was 0.1% due to diskeeper....so it took less than 10 seconds to defrag what was left...but overall, it's worth having around.

I was always under the assumption that defraging was an benefit under FAT systems ?. Is there any real substantial increase under an NTFS format.

Considering I've not defragged since I was on Win ME. (Yes I had it for about a week, before I switched to 2k).

Everything's working fine here. Is better than before. The speed is a bit slow if you enable flag protect. Simulation mode is a helpful addition. The method moving files during defragmentation seems to have changed, would help defrag more bigger files on the smaller sized HDDs.

For those who haven't tried it before, it's an outstanding hard drive optimizer that allows you to defrag and place the files the way you want. Like important files should go in outer parts of the drive to speed them up and the archive and not often used files (rar, zip, etc), should go in the inner parts of the drive. Would make your hard dive fly when it comes to speed. Can take time setting it, but it's worth. For those who don't wanna take the efforts to set it up, you can chose auto mode. It will do the job for you. Not as good as custom though. ;)

@DKT27: Thanks for the mini review. I have never tried UltimateDefrag before, but I'm tempted now. You used it on Windows 7 64-bit, right?

i actually used it before and it is an excellent defragmentation software EXCEPT for the terrible scheduler. and until now they are not improving it.

Finally UD boot time defrag works on my x64 windows 7.

Previous version of UD boot defrag on x64 does not work.

Glad I am able to move my pagefile and others around not like before.

For configuration, Shought's previous tutorial seem to work well too except that now windows 7's file system is a bit different especially the x64.

Overall, UD works just as well as before, nicer GUI too.

Initially thought that FragDetect will have a service running, but it does not. Need to monitor for a while.

Lastly, the fix is working fine.

What needs to be done differently for Windows 7 x64?

LOL...I am no expert like Shought.

Still testing....but folders like Program Files (x86), Program Files and sysWOW64 in Windows definitely should go into High Performance.

Still figuring out where the pagingfile and the rest on boot up should be place at......outermost ring or what?

Hoping Shought can come up with an update too.

I see it was updated!!! Many thanks.

I'm going to apply the medicine by FFF in UD 3 because I was using the last medicine by FFF on UD 2 and don't disappoint me. I know the other one also works fine but I'm stuck with FFF.

Kind regards to you and many thanks to FFF for bringing quality medicines to the scene.
