HX1
Would attempted server hacks count.. Like people trying to hack PHP and SQL Databases... and use Apache as a Proxy? Really has gotten bad lately.. with no posting anywhere of my Domain.. EVER.. Trying to decide if filtering with another program.. with redirects.. of the requests.. is a proper idea.. I hate having the redirects in every capitalization however... Getting angry and blocking entire countries with 2.6 Billion IP ranges is getting old.... and not really a valid solution.. especially with IP's changing so much and able to really be anything.. but server load could be an issue..Blabbering...I know nobody will respond to that...I found this... Blackhole Bad Bots but it would seem you must have PHP .. I don't... Except my ANCIENT portable mBot Server... which doesn't run usually anyway.. allqpwo
My first and yet last infection (a Fake Antivir) was about 6 months ago because of the Java Firefox Plugin (which had a security hole back then). My Avira AntiVir didn't protect me against this.My consequence: I uninstalled any java plugins since I havent used any Java within my Firefox for months anyways. RadioActive
Last time I (my PC that is) got infected was when I knowingly opened an infected application just to see how my AV will react, and it failed, miserably I might add. And if you're curious, I was trying AVG Internet Security at the time.
Rien91
The last time must have been several years ago when I downloaded an infected copy of Rollercoaster Tycoon, hell yeah that's been a long time ago : )
Maxhedroom
It's been a long while for me too...back when I was still running XP. It was waay back when I was running a scene cracked release of NIS 2004. Everything appeared to be running great....then while trying to get rid of a VERY nasty backdoor trojan I found out that the release I was using showed that it was updating properly when in fact it was not updating AT ALL!!! And of course in the end I had to format and go fresh.Ever since, I have NEVER trusted ANY cracked rel of ANY AV...trails and trial resets maybe but that's about it. Lesson learned the hard way. :boxing:
SnakeMasteR
I was acting like an idiot when starting an Keygen out of the sandbox instead ofin it (to start it in it was my intention). After that i couldn`t use the Task Manager,Regedit has been settled, too. After that i decided to format the partition becausei had to free up some space on the hdd. It is some years ago now.

mrsmith
My current build is from Dec 2005. This computer has never been infected. I use a combination of virtualization software. I also employ a hardware firewall w/NAT and a software firewall as well (mostly for stopping apps from calling home). I have 3 malware/av programs installed but only use them for manual scans. I have a few different bootable cd's I use to run scans periodically too. I do not employ a "real time" AV solution. I also use virustotal.com. I use Acronis to back up my system but have never had to use it because of an infection. I have however had to use my backup a few times after "playing around" with my system too much. I also take precautions to turn off such "helpful" windows features like autoplay/run etc etc. Plus I try and use common sense and dont just click "willy-nilly" all over the place. Eternal X
About 1 year ago the most vicious virus I've ever encountered the executable and or autorun infection changed the attributes to all my data from my main HDD and my external HDD as well as made all my files severely corrupted beyond recovery. :wut: It was sick...the files wouldn't open anymore nor were they the correct extension they were changed to a file format named .0001? I won't forget that day but just a heads up I had an extra HDD backup as well as a External HDD backup with all the data so no loss for me. Good thing to back your data up monthly or bi-weekly
