When it comes to containing the damage from the worst oil spill in history, BP will spare no expense --- on public relations, that is. Its latest move: Throw as much money as possible to buy up Google ads, as a way to route people to a Web site that is long on deception and spin, and short on the truth. Reuters reports that BP is flooding Google with money to buy ads:

"so its own website would rank higher or even top in the list of advertisements that appear alongside search results when Internet users search on terms such as 'oil spill,' 'volunteer' and 'claims.'

Do some searches yourself and you'll see the results. This morning, several searches for 'oil spill' had a BP ad at the top of the search results, followed by an ad by its best friend, the American Petroleum Institute, which is disguised as a blog. You can see the results, below.

This thing is just too crazy to be true, and yet it is, true. The thing is: the US government can't fine them too much, because the US itself would be screwed as well if they do so. Maybe we should just quit using oil, build a lot of nuclear plants and blow up the whole world? :rolleyes:

this government is doing everything they can to milk it and they dont give a dang about the oil spill. this is about cap and tax that he is giong to force down our thorts. oh they dont care about BP. they do not want any drilling in the usa. they dont want us using any oil products. they are gong to do everything they can to destroy BP.

the LA government wanted to put temp sand berms to stop the oil on the coast. the federal government epa then says first you hav eto do an evironmental impact study befor eyou can put temp sand berms to stop the oil. that state governor has finally had enough and told the corp of enginners and epa to go to hell and is now putting berms up. the enivormental wackos do not care about the children, animals plants or anything else. its about destroying us. they are ran by communist. pure and simple.

yeah i got a bit carry away. this government is one of the worst in usa history. it is very sad. bush and clinton would both had the coast protected and oil spill contained. they both would had everything working right. they would spent a hell of a lot of money but shit would gotten done. but this bs government is still sitting on $400+ billion from that bs stimus package. saving the moeny for vote bribes in 2010 and 2012 election.

oh the reason why the spill keeps getting bigger in size of leak is that everytime BP trys to do something its opening up a larger leak. in 2 years there be no driling in the gulf for usa companies. the opic and chinese and cubas will be though.

BP's fund of $20 billion for the next 20 years is not really that much when you realize that BP's profits for the last two years were $20 billion a year. So $1 billion a year for a company that makes $20 billions in profits a year and they can keep their horrific safety record going.
