I had to spend some time tweaking the configuration because Mint’s default settings were restricting internet throughput, resulting in noticeably slower speeds. Aside from that, I have installed basic security measures and am running my applications in Docker containers. As a complete beginner, I would like to know: What additional security tools or configurations should I implement to better protect the server against external attacks? How does Linux Mint differ from Ubuntu in terms of security? Preferably, never run a desktop distro on a server. Server distros are designed differently, for both security and hardware speeds. They have enhanced security and are optimized for server hardware. I'm surprised the host even allowed installing that distro to you. Normally hosts limit the distros one is allowed to use.
