lurch234
If you played Starfield and liked it then I recommend this game. It's the same thing, save one game (slightly) redeeming quality: It's topography. It isn't just lifeless rock like Starcrap! All that made the first one a hit is GONE! Imagine yourself barreling down thru a planets atmosphere in a life pod to crash on top of the guy you're supposed to meet! That's how the first one starts. Hilarious! You don't know who you are (mostly) and you can lie about it. The dialogs are short and mostly funny. Some quests were genuinely well thought off where the decisions you make really affect people and yourself! Outer 2's dialogs are insanely long (starfield) and just as f**king BORING!!! You have NO control over your companions! You can't even switch their weapons or armor!!!! The first Outer Worlds was the only non squad game that I actually liked having a companion. They gave you buffs to round out your build or make it better. None of that now! You can't decide their behavior so they just constantly throw themselves in harms way. Really!!! You're shooting at enemies and your dip shits keep walking in front of your gun fire saying "watch out with that!?!" They give you no buffs whatsoever. They are simply a nuisance of the highest order. I only suffered them along just to have some side quests!! In the first Outer, your companions had many conversations between themselves that were fun to hear. Outer 2 makes them life less and strained at best! Level cap is 30. That I got to yesterday. It was the only thing driving me along. I uninstalled it and will flush it from my exHDDs. I'm going back to Dead Island 2 since it's now loaded with goodies. Had a ton of fun with it, just like the first one! Edited November 18, 2025 by lurch234
Administrator DKT27 Posted February 24 Administrator Share Posted February 24 Just came across this topic. Good to see an honest opinion. I would avoid it then. What other top-rated games your recommend instead of it.
lurch234
@DKT27 I don't know if it's top rated but if you like sherlock holmes style games I would definitely recommend "The Sinking City" The dark and over bearing atmosphere in that fog ridden place sucks you right in! It's also a throw back to games that didn't hold your hand. At all! Up to you to read everything to move the cases forward. Up to you to go to different city buildings to research archives for info to where to go next. Very engaging story on the ages old theme of racism amid the dark legends of Cthulhu! And the monsters... Good luck "Fall of Avalon" an other dark game set in the Arthurian legend. Where you are many times reminded if you can trust your "boon companion" DKT27
