Karlston
If you're a YouTube Premium subscriber, YouTube has a new update for you, bringing more features to more devices. First of all, the company is rolling out high quality audio to the YouTube app on Android and iOS. This feature was previously available in the YouTube Music App and only as an opt-in experiment on YouTube main. The "High" setting provides a 256kbps AAC & OPUS bitrate, offering a richer listening experience. YouTube says this feature is available only for official music videos and Art Tracks. The next update is focused on playback speeds. You can now fine-tune playback up to 4x, in 0.05 increments, on more devices. What was previously available only on mobile devices is now available on Android, iOS, and the web. Jump Ahead has been expanded to more devices, which now include YouTube on TVs and gaming consoles. The feature uses AI and aggregated viewer data to identify and skip to the "most interesting" parts of a video, letting you bypass sponsored segments or long intros. It was initially released in the U.S. for English videos. Now that it is on TVs, you can activate it by pressing the right arrow on your remote. A dot will appear on the progress bar, and pressing the arrow again will skip you forward. Shorts can now be automatically downloaded based on your watch history. This feature, previously available on Android, is now on iOS after spending some time as an opt-in experiment. Shorts Picture-in-Picture (PiP) now lets you keep Shorts playing in a small window while you browse other content on your device, and is now also fully available on iOS. Alongside new features for Premium users, YouTube launched a new initiative called "YouTube Labs" that lets you test its latest AI experiments. The very first experiment, AI Music Hosts, provides trivia, commentary, and stories about the music you are listening to in the YouTube Music app. If you're interested, you can check your eligibility by visiting youtube.com/new, but access is currently limited.
