ODF Add-in for Microsoft Word

The goal for this project is to provide an Add-in to Microsoft Word 2007 to allow opening and saving OpenDocument format (ODF) files.

The converter is based on XSL transformations between two XML formats, along with some pre- and post-processing to manage the packaging (zip / unzip), schema incompatibility processings and the integration into Word 2007. We chose to use an Open Source development model that allows developers from all around the world to participate & contribute to the project.

Along with the Add-in for Microsoft Word 2007, we also provide a command line translator that allows doing batch conversions. This translator could also be run on the server side for certain scenarios.

Here is plug in that will allow open office document to be open with M$ Office.

So far for best result I have had to have blank M$ O. documents, work on them with Open O., so that transfered back to system without Open O. (M$ O.) they would be openable...

Would be nice that somebody would check the link before post gets published as I'm using a PC with no ability to check it.

Thanks!

Thanks, but I suspect that users might get confused regards which M$ Office that is for...

Improved Installation & End user setup experience for Word 2003 & Word XP & tight integration with Office Compatibility pack for Office 2003 & Office XP.

There will be separate install kits for Office 2007 Beta 2, Office 2003 & Office XP.

This release is comprehensive with respect to Indexes, Tables, Footnotes, Frames, Page Styles, Borders (Attached spreadsheet provides feature level implementation details).

The setup and installation packages have been tested using different Office & OS versions.

The release includes comprehensive EL compliance tests to assure that the translation tools work fine in EU institutions' day-to-day document processing scenarios. The features that need to be supported by the tools in order to meet this objective are derived from known and conceived scenarios in administrative agencies and institutions.

Some of the exit-criteria EL scenarios for this release include a) Translation of an EU law document into another EU language by an external service provider using OpenOffice :) A member of the EU Parliament requests the draft version of a national law document from a member state public body which uses OpenOffice.

Basicly, bit of a reading on the page wont harm anyone?
