nsane
A hacker who claimed to have found a serious zero-day bug in Firefox now says he was never able to exploit the supposed vulnerability to hijack computers. On Saturday, Mischa Spiegelmock and Andrew Wbeelsoi told attendees at the ToorCon event in San Diego that Firefox is critically flawed in the way it handles javascript. An attacker could commandeer a computer running the open-source Web browser simply by crafting a Web page that contains some malicious javascript code, they said. They displayed some of that code. But Spiegelmock has now backpedaled on those claims. In a statement provided to Mozilla, which coordinates development of Firefox, Spiegelmock said that the computer code displayed during the presentation does not fully compromise a PC running the browser."I have not succeeded in making this code do anything more than cause a crash and eat up system resources, and I certainly haven't used it to take over anyone else's computer and execute arbitrary code," he wrote in the statement, which was posted on Mozilla's Web site on Monday.Sources:http://msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=18428http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-6122317.html

Grogs
No doubt it was only exagerated becaus Firefox is such an important browser now, people look for ways to put it down. On the other hand, it's still not as bug-free or secure as Opera, which is a shame.

pHant0m
i also hate the torrent program it has wish i could figure out how to disable it allthough i havent really tried lolType "opera:config" in the address bar, move down to Bittorrent, and click on it. It'll expand, and uncheck the box to disable it. :fist: Personally, I'm an opera fanboy, and I'm not afraid to admit that. It's definantly a secure browser. I've had less problems wiht Opera than with Firefox. I also like how the install size is a lot less than Firefox... makes the comparison look worse for Firefox when you install all the plugins to match opera's features. ;)Firefox is a good browser, but it seems clunky to me.. might be the fanboy in me talking, but that's how i feel... I use the breeze simplified micro skin on opera, and It's ran fairly good for me. I admit, the default skin is ugly. But the breeze micro is so nice that it would be great for a default skin. More harmless to the eyes. :fist:

Thunder-GOLD
more like reporters blowing what they said COMPLETELY out of proportion to make FF look bad :)I.E is dead FF is the present and the Future and Yup....!!! the software isn't perfect but if we would compare it with I.E, you know that FF will kill to I.E. FF has more features than IE. I could write and write about all the features and things that I love of FF. But simply Internet Explorer SUCKS. I don't care if FF has a bug or not. IE isn't a software 100% secure. so if they try to bring down FF. they are wasting their time with me.LONG LIFE FOR FIREFOX

Samurai
May I also add that "promoting" Firefox Myths while standing by the comments made above is slightly ironic. Have you even read what has been posted on that site? It doesn't seem to be showing Firefox in a very good light I'm afraid.
Zeus_Hunt
I find IE 7 better than the recent firefox'sI have been using FF since v0.5.. used to love it..But I find it kinda blotware now...After Lite's preachings about Operalong time back, I have come to love Opera now..Lovely browser..The only complain I had earlier was it was mem hungry generally sticking to 40+ Mb size in memory..but that was bcoz I had 240Mb RAMNow that I have 512... Its no issues at all..
